Question Shocks

I have a 1992 tri axle and one of the shocks is leaking. With it being 15 years old I would like to replace all six myself. A friend had a dealer put four new shocks on his '92 and they have Gabriel stamped on them but no part number. Does anyone have a part number so I can order tham from an auto parts store that carries Gabriel?

According to many of the authorities here on the forums - the shock is manufactured for Airstream by Gabriel. It is not distributed to the general sales public but sold through Airstream Dealers parts network. There are several online that will take your order, shop around - prices have a big range. Inland RV Andy has them - that may be a place to start for a price comparison.

There are lots of threads on aftermarket shocks and their part numbers - remember these are ment to be mounted vertically and yours are in the horizontal configuration. May make a difference, and that is where all the commentary online is centered on by using aftermarket.

Good link. Price is maybe a bit lower than most dealers, but I didn't know you get get the shock bolts too. Great for someone who is making shock mounts for a Dexter axle; otherwise, you are stuck using a standard 5/8" bolt.

Moc,

Hope this is what you need.

Gabriel

Just bought these from AS in June.

I tried a couple parts stores this spring to no avail. However, I don't think I tried NAPA. Best of luck.

I paid $31.80 each.

Also, Gabriel no longer makes these shocks with a two piece rubber bushing.
They will not clear the top spindel to frame distance without some creative thinking.
Talked to airstream service and they have a large bar and just bend the spindels. Just what you would expect. Instead of calling Gabriel and telling them to change back, just bend the hell out of the spindel.

I am going to press out the rubber bushings, cut them in two pieces and install my new shocks.

Good luck.
