Searching for just the right can.

Making the obligatory first post seems odd since I'm not yet a real Airstreamer.
I am searching, contemplating, using the forum to gain perspective.

I technically live in TN, but have a business and own rural property in central FL.
I'd like to find a nice, vintage trailer, set it up on the FL property, become a part time full-timer.

The property already has a well, pump, water line, septic tank, etc.
It's a simple matter to hook up.

Plans are to build a shed to protect the 'stream, from rainstorms certainly, but especially to provide shade from the sun. I can see myself building a nice little oasis.

I am smitten by the '64 Trade Wind. (24ft, door-in-door, jalouse window, dbl bed)
This is the minimum size I'd want but I wouldn't rule out a 26' Overlander or even a 31 footer of some sort.

Since I plan to park it, tires and running gear only have to be good enough to get me there.

I am not into to a frame up restoration. I could do it, but I don't have the time, nor inclination. I do however insist that there be a solid floor and no rear end separation!
I'm handy with basic mechanics and do great woodwork.
So,......ideally I need to find something with solid bones but needing a cosmetic facelift.

"...solid bones but needing a cosmetic facelift." Hey, that sounds just like ME!

Welcome to airforums.com Selmer3006!

You're sure to find answers to your Airstream questions here, although so far I don't see any question in your post.

Just a comment, it seems a bit odd to take a trailer and "box" it for purposes of living in it, when it was built to be used outdoors, as it came. Are you doing that to preserve its value?

Also, you would at the least need to be careful to properly provide venting from the trailer to the outdoors. Otherwise there are potential for health issues from gasses coming from cooking, hot water production, and sanitary sources.

In any event, welcome to the forum, and I'm sure you will get comments from others far more informed than I on this subject.

If you are looking for just the right can, might I suggest Dapper Dan?

"box" it?? NO!
I'm talking about a simple carport type metal roof over it.
SHADE from the Florida sunshine.

Sarcasm and humor are personality traits that I admire.
Looks like I might fit in well here.

Aha! Well, that makes more sense, I guess. Best of luck with it!
