Sorry to hear about your trailer being stolen. Does the trailer have red numbers? This would make it easier to spot...

If it is one of a kind, could you give us some identifying details (not that I am nearby, but it would be helpful for others).

Also, make sure to read some of the other stolen airstream threads here if you can. there are lots of great ideas. For instance, as depressing as it is, go check out scrap metal yards NOW. Another one was taken immediately to a scrap metal yard for the aluminum value.

Even if you have alerted the authorities, they may not be checking there, but just on streets.

GOOD LUCK!!!

Sad - seems like a lot of these thefts over the past couple years happen in Texas. Best of luck recovering it, that's terrible news.

If the trailer has unique markings, WBCCI numbers on the end caps, etc. please share that information so we can watch for it. You might considering sharing the VIN since this is a venue of people who are likely to look at such a trailer for sale, and this would be a trailer that sells well.

If you have pictures of any unique aspect of the trailer, please post them to this thread so we can be on the lookout. I'm always looking around for Airstreams, I know most other members of the forums do as well, and there are quite a lot of Texans on here.

Sorry to hear about this.

ANOTHER TEXAS AIRSTREAM is stolen.

As I have my own current project being worked on right now, I am going to ensure that I buy wheel boots, hitch lock, and put some kind of tracking device in my trailer.

Steve

I troll craigslist ads for anything with "airstream" in it for TX, AR, OK and LA every day. I'll be looking for it there as well as on the roads, and I know many others will as well.

Be aggressive

As I have said before about these stolen Airstreams...get the word out...in the right areas. My guess would be that it is someone local in your area. You did not exactly have it on display...like a Houston business district. You are also right in the piney woods and near some real remote and wooded areas.....so,....get the ID and info out to those that get into those areas. Nosey neighbors are your best friends now. Texas has the Co-op magazine for rural electric. users. The "Thrifty Nickle" news rag.....its anywhere you look and those folks in the woods all look at it at least once before it hangs on the outhouse wall. The meter readers and post office folks. High school bulletins....kids know everything. I doubt if it will be transported out of the hiding areas. A polished Bambi will stand out like a diamond in a goats ass....they will conceal it for sure. Good luck...we are all looking for you!

Brazen is just one word comes to mind for the creeps that stole your Airstream.

I had thought about this possibility. I was thinking if the AS is going to be parked for any length of time, maybe removing the wheels and putting them in the garage might prevent this sort of drive-away crime.

You've got lots of interested AS owners and interested individuals like myself on the lookout for your treasure.

Keeping Watch in Albuquerque

Sue and I check every Airstream we see anyway. Now we are just more motivated!
Having the numbers is good. Even if the thieves try to remove them, the shadows will be there.
I need to check the statutes, but I think it's still okay to hang horse thieves and Airstream thieves in New Mexico and Texas, as it should be.

Can you tell us more about the theft? Was it at home? A storage unit? Did it have a hitch lock?

Stolen 1961 16ft Airstream Bambi

Mike, so sorry to learn of your misfortune. During my early years with the WBCCI, I camped near your father at several WBCCI International Rallys. I remember his Bambi so very well, and know how important that its value as a legacy must be to you. I will keep an eye out as I travel the Interstates around here just in case the thief head this direction.

I am attaching two photos of Bill Scott with his Bambi on the 1999 Wagon Wheels Caravan to the International Rally in Dayton, OH.

I will be hoping to hear that your Bambi has been safely recovered in the very near future.

Kevin
