I am attaching two photos of Bill Scott with his Bambi on the 1999 Wagon Wheels Caravan to the International Rally in Dayton, OH.
What an amazing group we have here. A new member has his Airstream stolen, and someone else who lives halfway across the country posts a couple of photos of it!
Mike, as one who has gone through this pain I hate to hear of another trailer stolen in Texas. Maybe the DPS can help you there, more than HPD in Houston for me. Where was it stolen from, a public space where the thieves could scout out their options? Create a flyer asap with photos and an accurate description of YOUR Bambi, if it had a mirror polish on it then it will rule out 90% of ANY Airstreams out there, but for the public at large they need to know this. Add anything else to the description you can. There are camera systems everywhere now on the interstates (i45). You can post your flyer at truck stops in the area. I'm pretty sure that my 72 was stolen by professionals, probably Gypsies, there are a lot of them in East Texas and they are trailer people who know how to hitch and pull and can steal a trailer in minutes. They aren't intimidated by the risk of taking a pretty unique Airstream. They also know that the trailer can't be put on the road and pulled around the country like a show pony. It's probably going to be put out of sight somewhere and hard to find. Go to the local airports and post your flyer there. Small planes can spot that shiny aluminum glinting in the sunlight like a large mirror. Also I tried to let the parts and repair people know that mine was stolen and that someone may try to replace a broken lock on the door or that corner window that was broken. Good luck in your hunting and keep the thread open. I hope I'm wrong and your trailer was stolen by some idiot that will pull it across Texas and some sharp person spots it. They better not bring it this way cause there isn't a day that I'm driving that I don't keep my eyes open for my Tradewind and I think a shiny Bambi would be an easy spot.
Scott, Sorry to hear about this, really. This sort of things deserves a long branch and a short rope. Post as many pics as possible, if he comes east, I will keep an eye out as well. Hard to miss a pretty camper like that. As I am sure it goes with any Airstream enthusiast, I notice every single airstream that i see on the road, and like RichHog said, the polished ones stick out like nobody's business.
I sure hope it didnt end up in a shipping container shortly after it was stolen. Another thing to consider...theres Airstream in my area that has been 'wrapped' with pics related to the owners hotdog stand...May wnat to consider contacting those businesses also as well as auto painting facitlities.

Can you tell us more about the theft? Was it at home? A storage unit? Did it have a hitch lock?
yes the theft happened at my house at about 2:30am, it had a hitch lock and blocks in front of the wheels. the only thing I heard was my airstream scraping the street as it pulled out of my driveway.
WOW! Thank you Kevin for posting these pics of my father it sure does mean a lot to me!
especially since I've never seen the pic of him polishing the Bambi! Tom Howarth had sent me a copy of the top pic when my dad had passed away. I have good understanding of why my father was so drawn to the love of airstreams & the airstream community. and genuine good people is definitely up there on that list.
I've found that hitch locks give a very false sense of security. Don't think it took long for the thieves to cut through that. Please post some pics ASAP to help us all quickly recognize your Bambi. Pretty bold for someone to steal it from your driveway.
Some of you might remember a similiar thread from folks in Seattle that got their coach jobbed. We know that area well and figured it was loaded into a container and shipped elsewhere. Longview is a world-wide port, also. I bet that little dear is long gone.
Has anybody on this forum ever gotten their stolen AS back? There seems to have been quite a few in Texas the last couple years, unfortunately. Best of luck to MikeScott, looks like a very recognizable trailer.

Longview, WA is a cargo port. Longview, TX where Mike Scott had this Bambi stolen is not. It's more likely to be hidden in the woods somewhere in East Texas (or NW Louisiana) than it is to be shipped abroad.

I still think stolen coaches are going abroad. Longview, or Longview.
Seasonal timing seems to point more towards taking it to a private hunting camp. I would let the Texas and Louisiana Fish and Game Agency know about the theft so they can keep their eyes and ears open. Pretty pathetic but it is a possibility...
It's hard for me to believe some old boys would steal a very visual, beautifull coach and stick it in the woods as a "hunting camp". Come on, even rednecks are not that stupid.
