Potential Bambi/Safari rookie!

Completely new to Airstreams and travel trailers in general, but have an opportunity to embark on a 3 month trip out West this summer. Looking for some sage advice on how to maximize this experience.
Will be towing w/ an 07 Nissan Frontier, 4x4, w/ trailer pkg rated at #6100. Going solo for about 1/2 the trip, 1/2 with the wife. Planning to do as much boondocking/national forest camping as possible.
Currently looking at either a used 75th anniversary 2006 Bambi 16' or a new 2008 Safari 17'. Both are about equal in price. Is there a clear winner here in terms of reliability/functionality/resale value?
Curious if anyone has experience in either of these models or can point me in the right direction.
