We took delivery of our Flying Cloud 28 RB twin in November so it’s the same as yours. We have been on 3 shakedown trips to local state parks and leaving on the 20th for Florida for a 12 day trip. Seeking the sun.
Our only issue thus far was the power jack (Lippert brand) failed. We are getting this replaced tomorrow. Apparently AS has started using Barker jacks due to the high incidence of the Lippert one failing. I expect you have the Barker unit.
You will love your Airstream and the freedom that goes along with it ...

Congratulations on your new Airstream. I know the feeling of picking up that shiny new Airstream.

Ed, we are also heading to Key West Florida on the 15th as well Ed. We are taking our time getting there, so we will arrive on the 19th. Where are you staying? We will be stay at Boyd's Key West Campground. We also had our Jack fail on our 2020 model and the replacement jack has been great. Hopefully, yours will be the same.

Congrats on "living the dream!"

Here are two suggestions that we found invaluable.

First, there's an awesome YouTube family that has owned everything from a gigantic 5-wheel, to a 2-person teardrop - in just a few years! They're currently in a 30" airstream and their videos are SUPER informative...as they are entertaining! "Keep your Daydream" I think this is the video they first get their airstream:

Second, having a group of wonderful, seasoned Airstream owners to chat with (and show) is invaluable - the very first day we owned ours we took it from the dealer's lot to a rally...and the help, advise and insight was invaluable!!! They're tentatively planning a "no host" rally at Penchanga Resort in March. Here's their web site: https://southcoastca.airstreamclub.net/

Get ready to REALLY have fun!!!

Thanks Mark! We've been watching the Keep your Daydream videos for a few years now...along with others! Thanks for the link to the Southern California group...we knew about them, but haven't quite got there yet. I have joined Harvest Hosts, so hopefully some wineries and breweries are on our horizon!

Good idea with the empty parking lot practice! Set out some plastic water gallons, in lane free area. Will give you more confidence. Some people practice in empty lots with ropes or old garden hose to simulate campground backing+ give more visual target.
Another tip for new to towing people is stay in far right lane, as much as possible, until your skills increase.
When approaching interstate interchanges, before exit/ move to next lane to left as you approach, stay in that lane until you have passed merging traffic.
Then back to far right lane. This keeps potential trouble off both your sides. You're cutting potential problems by 50% while learning.
Keep your speed near 60 while learning+increasing towing skills.
Excessive speed creates most problems for new towing people especially.
Also, keep that rig straight while braking.Watching action far ahead prevents panic swerving.
Better to start braking way early than late, with a combination vehicle rig.
Always cross safety chains, and check tire pressure on all tires frequently.

I would love to hear any details you can share about your delivery experience. How did you manage the walk-thru / orientation with Covid? Did you stay overnight at the dealer? Were there any issues that they had/have to address? Did you sign the paperwork before or after the walk-thru? I'm picking up a new 27' GT in a few weeks and want to be as prepared for the process as possible!
