Pet Peeve About RV&V's

Hello everyone from a new member in Punta Gorda, FL.

DW and I are shopping for our next RV and debating which way to go as we change from a boat to an RV...again. In the past we have owned a Bluebird M380 but will not go Class A again. Our current feelings lean strongly toward an AS 25FB or a 27FB. We have shopped Class C motorhomes but I doubt that we will end up there....lot's of flimsy junk.

My pet peeve is that most RV's other than Class A's do not have a comfortable place to sit and prop your feet up. Some of our boats have been the same way.

It seems to me that some (most) interior designers assume that the user will either be driving or eating. This is evidenced by the preponderance of units we have shopped having only a dinette for seating. i would go as far as saying much more time is spent watching TV than driving or dining. Am I wrong?

I know that you can rip anything out and replace it with whatever will fit in the space but am wondering what is it with all the dinettes?

Doc, if you are considering an Airstream, I would suggest that you look at the rear bedroom floorpans. They are much easier to convert to 2 recliners with a smaller table between them. The front bedroom has the furnace that has to be moved forward for 2 recliners, or left and 1 recliner. I have a fb model, and currently trying to decide which way to go.

Greetings from the Florida Panhandle

Welcome to the Forums. We're glad to have you with us. Since you are considering the 27, take a look at the 28. It is actually 2" shorter than the 27???, go figure. It has a couch separate from the dinette.

Hi GeoDoc: I agree with you. RV interiors are designed around what sells, and chances are the lady of the house makes the final decision. Maybe that's why kitchens and dinettes seem to be a priority. I really don't know the design requirements.

I do know that I prefer a "couch" for evening sitting over a dinette. I've never sat in a comfortable dinette. I know that many Airstreamers have converted their front couch or front dinette for two nice recliners with a "coffee" table between them. Even the Airstream service offers this remodel job.

I might add that big fifth wheels have "theater sitting" where they recognize the importance of relaxing in the evening like most people are wont to do.

I hope you find an Airstream model and floor plan that suits your needs.

David

Airstream recliners

AS had a floor plan just a few years ago with recliners direct from factory -- still an option, I believe, but evidently few takers.

Take a look at the FC 26 RBT. The U shaped front sofa/dinette allows 2 adults to recline in comfort at the same time. TV articulates for viewing. You can use both tables, neither or just one and rotate it for beverages, very flexible.

I say the RBT only because of the 4 outside storage compartments. The RBQ only has 2, more interior storage also with the RBT.
