Patience please

The situation is this. 8 yrs ago my husband and I bought 40 gorgeous acres in a very remote location.
He passed away in Jan. '04. My brother moved in and we bought an airstream 2 yrs ago. to live in until we could build a cabin (everything would be off-grid). I lost my brother last Aug. '09.
I will most likely never build a cabin but would be content living in the airstream for the rest of my life (I'm 60). I am determined to do this.
The bill of sale shows my airstream to be a 1972 8' x 29' Ambassador Land Yatch, vin#129T2J5247. I can find no info. None of the pics. look like my interior. The sofa wraps all the way around the living area. I don't think it has been modified. It is very cold and I'm sure it needs more or different insulation. where do I start? I will not be traveling, it will be stationary and I will live in it yr. round (off the grid), another subject that will no doubt present challenges. I'm not sure the info. on the bill of sale is correct but I am sure I need to know what I have. Where can I go for help?
Thank you in advance.

Posting the VIN will help, but also if you could post a few pictures of the interior, there are people on this forum who seem to have seen every permutation of Airstream ever made and they may recognize the interior layout from a photo.

I'm constantly amazed at how much our fellow Airstream Forum members know about Airstreams, they're worse than I am with computers and old cars!

As far as the idea of living full time in your trailer, go to Forums, Fulltiming and Winter Living and read through the threads there for a mountain of information.....

Plus, for off the grid living there is a whole forum on "Boondocking"

Hi Maureen,

I am so sorry to hear of your losses. But glad that you are going to continue on your intents to live in your Airstream. If you're planning on keeping it staionary on your property, and not towing it to-and-fro, there will be a few less things to worry about.

I've spent unimaginable hours on this forum - looking up and reading about all sort of things. There is a TON of info here and everyone is really helpful.

There's a page titled "Forum" that brings up the posts by category. This is where you will find the "Full-timing, Winterliving" and "Boondocking" (i.e. off grid). I use the Search function a lot too. You can even search within a particular forum category or the individual thread. Just do some experimenting and you'll find some cool ways to find the information you want. I spent way too much time in the Gallery looking at how some folks did their window curtains & blinds via the Search function!

Since you mention that you're not overly computer savy, I attached a couple pictures of where you find the Forum and Search buttons. They're both usually on the blue bar near the top of the website home page but, depending on your browser, you might find them elsewhere - like along the side or in big bullets at the very top. Just look for the FORUM and SEARCH titles and click on them!

Good luck! Laura
