Owners Sooner than we thought!

Hi all,

Our Airstream journey began in Yosemite in 2016. My wife and I just married. Returning to camp our neighbors for the night asked us where we had hiked. We replied we had just summitted Half Dome, they instantly invited us to dinner! I set a condition that I could peak my head inside their Airstream. Our love affair began!

Fast forward to 2019 I rode Cycle Oregon 2019. The team leader has an Airstream Eddie Bauer 27’. It rained a lot and as the young gun on the team I got to sleep out of the rain underneath the trailer... thankful for that 3 inch lift! Right after this trip we decided we were going to start looking for our Airstream.

COVID hit and we are both nurses so we did nothing but work, hope our pay did not get cut, hope we had PPE for the next day, and our hospital survived the pandemic. We built a new house to fit our changing family, moving twice.

2021 started and we took a fresh breath, our toddler is 2, we can travel again locally! The search was on. We placed an order at a local dealer, but were not satisfied. We had reservations about all the posts of leaks and issues out of the new factory. Let alone waiting till July. We decided to watch the used market while we waited.

We met a lot of different sellers, but we finally found the right one. He took care of business the right way, had pride in his rig and we all walked away from the deal happy. It was like doing business with my own father. We found an 2018 Airstream International Serenity 23FB that we brought home last night. Gently used and well cared for. After a lot of advice from this forum about buying used first and the dual axel thing! It towed behind my Tundra like a dream. Thanks all for the initial advice and the future advice! Photos to follow this weekend!

Welcome to the Airstream life. I have always thought the 23 was a great size.
Look forward to your pictures.

Congrats on your new AS, and more importantly, thanks to you both for all you have done, and continue to do, as healthcare professionals. While many of us were able to lay low over the past year, you had to do the opposite. On this one year pandemic anniversary, you found a great way to reward yourselves.

Nice rig, nice deal, nice outcome. Welcome to the community! Those of us who have been merely laying low can’t wait for this pandemic to subside enough to travel again. I can only imagine how it is for your family!
You are at a great stage of life to enjoy camping - your child will really benefit. All the best to you!

Thanks everyone for the welcome! We are starting solar panels! Looking at Renogy, bang for the buck seems better. Anyone have any problems with Renogy?

Few photos from today’s trip to the DMV to do the VIN search abs Title application!

The hitch was set for the original owners Land Rover. Have not made any adjustments yet. I feel like my Tundra is pretty level though. Thoughts?

Thank you! After almost a year straight of working in the COVID ICU I feel like this is the universe rewarding us! Excited to work a little less and go play a little more!
