Now an Airstream!
To All In The Forum,
My first and only trailer so far is a one owner,17'-Casita-Freedom Deluxe. I looked three years for that unit. We've owned this for five years now.
I've really enjoyed this trailer and believe that the folks in Rice, TX really do put together a great product for the price.
That being said however, I've always dreamt of owning an Airstream and can never really get them out of my mind. Even when I bought the Casita I still wanted one. I just couldn't afford the price.
We just recently decided to put the Casita on the market and buy something a bit larger. We looked here and there. Saw the new stuff. Saw the old stuff. Then I took the wife into an Airstream and she said, "There's no comparison." Of course I said, "I know."
So...... I'm now on the path to educate myself on the particulars of nomenclature, styles, floor plans, axles, restoration, etc. and all the "stuff" I can find that will help in making a firm acquisition of my dream.
I've been pouring over your forums for the past days and wish to thank you all for the shared knowledge and expertise. What a help.
Being a master carpenter I love good puzzles and putting things together and fixing stuff up. (Yeah, it'd be nice just to buy something and not have to screw with stuff sometimes, but hey.....)
So, I'm on the path! Just to let you know I'm out there and ready to learn. All help is greatly appreciated.
I'm thinking that my selection will be something close to an FC23'FB. (Learning these floor plans takes some doing!) And I'm not limited to the newer stuff. Want to look at 1993 vintage years. The '90's seem to be a very good year for these trailers.
Best,
Eric Campbell

Welcome to the forum and good luck in your search. You will find that many of us here either have or have had a Casita.

You will find the perfect one out there. See if you can find some rallies near you. Most folks are happy to show you their Airstreams.

Oh GOOD now we have a cabinet builder in the fold- I'M FIRST!! I would like a new corner counter section with new tops!
Welcome Mr Cabinet ---I mean Permit Bob (Eric). On the floor plans, you are doing pretty good already as you are using the letters. I could only get the length and trim line out Flying Cloud 23, etc. Most people on here will tell you to get the long silver torpedo model for long walks inside- something like my 10 wheel model in the pic. Don't be shy. (just kidding).
It will be interesting to hear what you end up with. There are many to give you some tips on the forum.

You have the 4 Corners Unit of WBCCI in the area you live. There's a Vintage Restoration Academy rally run by 4 Corners every May. It's a great place to go for help to restore a trailer or fix, or just for fun. We've been twice and highly recommend it!

To All,
Thanks for the welcome.
After reading many of the forums I do have an initial questions......
1). Do all Airstreams leak?
I think it's time to sell the Casita!

Welcome to the Forums. We're glad to have you with us.
Al RV's will eventually leak if they get enough use on the road. Our last Airstream had chronic leak problems, but nothing we couldn't deal with. We had spent over 1,400 nights in that trailer, and had towed it over 100,000 miles.
Our new Airstream is about two years old and has not had any leaks, yet.
