Northwest Newbie with '78 Tradewind

We just purchased our first AS (first trailer!) day before yesterday-- '78 Tradewind with the 2 Double bed/couches. (Three cheers for Craigslist! Wow!)

It needs interior cleaning (had a moisture/mold problem this past winter with PO, but seems to have been well cared for mechanically apart from the Moisture Event.) All original interior... must get rid of cushions due to mold.

So, we've been cleaning.

First hurdle (apart from cleaning) is figuring out another sleeping space (bunk) and I posted about that in the Interior forum.

(Then the carpet--ew!-- needs to come out, need to get new cushions depending on the kids' bed options... and then some painting... oh, and just figuring out basically how to work a trailer!)

We have two kids and homeschool. Looking forward to this adventure!!

Thanks for being here.

Welcome to the forums from another Washingtonian.... Our 69 tradewind came from the Wetside errr West Side of the state and we had the same mold issues when we got it home. Home Depot in their cleaning area has a great anti-mold cleaner, forget the name but it works really well, even on the wall material and wood if you are careful.

Welcome aboard, and congrats on the new Tradewind. Ironically, my Tradewind came from the Everett area. You folks must grow the things up there on the 'wet side'

Mold removal

We're using this method (found on-line in general mold removal info):

3oz Laundry detergent per gallon hot water
to "remove" mold (using sponge)

Then a bleach solution to disinfect
Keep wet 15 mins
Rinse off w/ plain water

Plus had to toss the original cushions and carpet
Bleached the curtains and washed 'em (oh, *dreading* putting them back on! what fiddle-y work that looks like! ugh.)

Don't be knocking the wetside of Washington. By the Bay happens to live in a really nice place, but maybe I'm prejudiced.

Congrats on the new trailer. Mine is currently at the welder getting the frame modified for a torsion axle and holding tanks.

cheers,
steve
