Nice to meet all of you!

i'm ricky, the ghost writer for my dear 98 year old friend that actually owns the trailer. she has had an airstream since around 1986 and i heard stories about her and her late husband, traveling for many years both here and in europe (different trailer). this past winter i was able to stay with her where she winters in florida. i loved it! i met a lot of really great people and hope to repeat the experience. even though i spent many hours tinkering and reading the owners manual, lol, it was a very enjoyable winter.

i've picked up a lot of info here and i think at this point i've got twinkie in my blood for life. some day i'll find out what that unmarked switch near the door controls, even if i have to trace it to whatever it is connected to! it reminds me of the episode of "married with children" where al tears apart the house in a similar situation as i. the trailer doesn't have a dog house light so i should be safe ;-)

Welcome! How wonderful that your friend has shared her Airstream travels with you.

You're not alone - we see the "what does this switch do?" question quite a bit here. You're in good company.

Hi and welcome to the forums! If that switch is anywhere near the water pump, it may turn the pump on and off . Good Luck!

no, it isn't the water pump, those are labeled. there is a panel of 4 switches. if i remember correctly from left to right they are: exterior step light, couch area ceiling, kitchen ceiling, and the "mystery switch" (unabeled). i took the panel out and there ARE wires connected to it, i'd guess 12 guage or possibly 10. it has power in and power out but no spark when jumped. everything seems to work in the trailer so i'm not worried, just curious :-)

Hi Ricky and welcome to the forums.

Here's a sweet article about a man traveling with his 94 year old grandma (who owned an Airstream). I remembered reading this when I read your intro post. Enjoy...
