Newcomer from Canada looking for a trailer

Hi everybody,
yesterday I visited an Airstream trailer. I was not interested because it was old (around 1977), too big (about 30 feet) and far from my home (500 miles).
But today, my wife wakes up and she wants it absolutely !!!
Today it is no more old nor too big ! But it is still far. I phoned the owner. The price is ok. But here is the problem : he does not have a clear title. He says he does not need one because he wants to park it and use it as a camp. He says he could get the title from the previous owner if I buy it, and bla bla bla.
What can I do ? Does every trailer have a serial number ?
Thank you for your help.

Yes, every trailer has a serial number. If he can get the title, then have him get it. Go to the local DMV with him and the paperwork and make sure that you can obtain a clean title before giving him any money.

Welcome to the forum. You and your wife have caught the disease we like to call aluminitis. Don't feel bad we all have it. It comes from standing too close to an Airstream you want to have. However, sometimes we need to put up with the shakes and shivers of the disease and put off the purchase in your case this may be wise. Yes all trailers have or should have serial numbers but that is not enough you need the clear title. The other thing which would be nice is to know a little of the history and the title could help you there as well. There are many fine Airstreams out there waiting to be purchased by those afflicted with aluminitis. The right trailer is waiting for you.
Good luck with your search.
