Newbys from Oklahoma w/25' '88 Excella!

We just bought an '88 Excella 25' and are so excited to get started on it. We have tons of questions but will start with just reading the different forums here. One question I have is: Are there any other Airstreamers in Oklahoma? haha...I know there has to be a few, but we don't see them much around here and have looked for several months before we could find one close enough to go look at and buy. I have read about the North Texas AS club and that sounds interesting, but wondered it there were any in Oklahoma? We will start some updating soon (everything is original w/mauve color scheme...Not my taste!) We also are going to attempt to tow with our '07 Chevy Silvarado 1500 w/5.3 V8 with HD trailer towing pkg. but then it only has the 3.23 rear axle. It is GVW at 6,200 lbs.My husband is thinking of changing it to the 3.73...but wondering if that will be enough? Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Greetings and welcome to Airforums, divadebi! I'm sure you'll find loads of info here about your Airstream as well as your tow vehicle!

No, we started to go see one in La. but found one in TX much closer but very similar, maybe not in as good condition, but we are happy with it. Good luck in your search...we have been looking several months...they seem to sell fast in this part of the country so you have to act quickly when you find one! Thanks for commenting,

Greetings from the Florida Panhandle

Welcome to the Forums. We're glad to have you with us.

As far as your tow vehicle goes, I would go ahead and tow with it as is for starters, and see how it does. Then make any changes as you feel are necessary.

Welcome!! We are just down 35W in Fort Worth, TX not to far from Ardmore, OK. Glad you are looking for others to ask questions about Airstreams. Lots of good answers on this forum. My 2 cents on your truck is try it and see if it works. No use spending money on something you don't need. I had a 2003 Chevy Avalanche with 373 rear end pulled 2007 25ft. FB fine. gas milage was good for towing. Got a new 2011 Avalanche with Allison 6 speed and 342 rear end. Tows real good gas milage is not good. Worse than 2003 Avalanche. In some ways I wish I had my old one back. I sure like the backup camera and Nav system on the new one.

Congrats on the "new" purchase, and welcome to the forums! We "were" from Oklahoma City, but just left to full-time! There are a few from OK, and there are a few different clubs (I'm partial to The Airstreamer's Club, but that's because I'm a member). We tried to get a few rallies together before we moved, but just didn't have a chance to. At any rate, welcome to the forums!

Thanks for the comments, and the Walt Disney World trip sounds great...may have to think about that one! Maybe we'll be up for traveling that far by then.
