Newby to the Airstream World - Hello from CO
Hello everyone!
My husband and I have finally decided NOW is the time to buy our first Airstream. We are in the mountains of Colorado and want to enjoy our area in a used Airstream. As I began to look, it was quickly evident that there is soooo much to learn.
We are looking for a 21' - 25' (so our current vehicle can handle pulling in the mountains and so we can get into the tight state parks). What to ask? What to look for? Wow, so many things.
If any of you seasoned or not so seasoned (LOl ) but knowledgeable "streamers" would care to offer some advice, it would be GREATLY appreciated!!!
So excited about the prospects of camping again after many years and being part of the Airstream community!

Hello, Marian & Scott, and welcome to the Airforums! I'm sure you'll find tons of information here that will be of use to you, and lots of people providing it!
I guess the quickest thing I'd ask you before going too much further is what tow vehicle you have. That'll give us an idea of what range of trailers might be best for your purposes.
Lynn

Welcome to the forums. The only thing I'll tell you is that 8 years later, my husband and I still agree buying our Airstream was the best idea I ever talked him into Good luck, I hope you find your perfect trailer!

Welcome to the forums.
I noticed that you are from Meeker, CO. We spent a night at the city park in Meeker last year while heading to Gillette, WY. It is a wonderful place to spend a night and the Italian Restaurant a block away is pretty good too!
I have a 25' 1975 trailer and tow it with a 2007 Tundra with the 5.7 engine. It tows very well and has more then enough power for the mountains.

Ok, so are you talking, then, about a somewhat lighter rig. We also mountain-tow with a 1/2 ton (with an even smaller V8 motor).
I'm sure others will want to jump in here, but let me start with a old document from Airstream with weights, attached. As you'll see, things get a bit heavier with the passage of time.

Stephanie, Thanks for the welcome and the well wishes!
Richard, Thanks. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay in our little town. Also thanks for the info on towing the 25'. We'll surely take that into consideration when deciding which trailer to purchase.

Welcome Aboard....
Our first was a Safari 22', now it's a 25' Classic, we find it perfect for two two leggers and one four, but we have done four two leggers and two four for 10 days.
We frequent DEC campgrounds a lot and I think anything bigger would be a hassle. Most sites are under 30'. Dock'n Rocks...
Good Luck...
Sweet Streams.

Richard, Nice picture. Looks like a super fine airstream!!!!
Are there any model years that we should avoid or approach with caution?
