Hey all,
First post, found this site by looking for info on my new camper.I have looked for weeks for a camper and had resorted to stoping in peoples yard and asking if their camper was for sale.My wife thought I was nuts.Prolly was but i kinda struck gold i think.WE went to va. bout 1 1/2 hrs from my nc home to see a 1990 coachman for 3000.oo that turned out to be junk, all to peices but as we left we saw a shasta in their neighbors yard and stoped and asked if it was for sale, they said no,I said thanks anyway. We had not decided what we wanted yet just didnt want to spend a lot.so 1/2 mile down the road we saw another camper and she said should we turnaround and go ask,I said if you want to.I asked the ol guy sitting on the porch if his camper was for sale and he said yup 500 bucks. The outside looked good except for the peeling paint.I though heck i can paint but the inside i thought would be useless,Boy was I wrong its nice inside.I said you want 500..ill take it.He said it had been sitting a while and didnt know if anything worked or not i said ill take a chance on it.So far everything works cold air,no soft spots, looks very well maintained.Always wanted airstream, now lookin for stuff i can fix on it...im shure their will be plenty being its 35 years old but thats the fun part.

Greetings Critter!
Welcome to the Forums!
From your comments, I am guessing that you have either found an Airstream with peeling Plasticoat or an Argosy with peeling paint on the endcaps. I am sure you have an audience wondering more about the gem that you are refurbishing.

Could you tell us just what you found. I'm thinking an Argosy because of the "peeling paint", but I sure would like to see a picture or a name or something. Don't keep us waiting. What did you find for $500.00?

Ok guys,I forgot the most important part, its a 1973 argosy 22 with new tires and its been parked about a year and a half near as i can tell. Most of the paint blew off with the presure washer the rest ill have to da off.The guy bought it in 1971 for 4000 dollars and they say that they relly loved this camper.I can believe it by the condition inside I just cant beleive I got if for 500 bucks,I always wanted a airsteam of somekind or another.I hope to have paint done in a couple of weeks.New Paint, awning,cd player, wheels, prophane tanks and Ill be ready for some bluegrass festivles!

Hey all,
There is a ton on info here and I will have a ton of ? so i hope yall will bear with me.Ill get ol moneybags to put up some pic's asap. The inside of the camper looks great,The couple deff took care of it.So far ive found evidence of a few minor leaks, nothing major, water tracks arounrd kitchen window and its leaked just enough to swell the wood on the backsplash, not bad for 35 years old.I'm, very impressed with the way these things hold up.Front window show minor tracks @ btm left but not enough to do any damage yet.the people that owned it before put nice carpet throuout, pro installed and it looks great.Green counter and stove in good cond. ,upholstrey looks to have recent redo and they are also in new condition. This thing is great looking on the inside with very little signs of use.Have not checked plumbing yet or prophane system. This thing prolly has 500$ worth of tires.I,d paid way more!
