Newbies from the Midwest

Hello to All and thank you for the add -

My wife and I are not new to RV life, just new to owning and towing. We took the plunge in October of 2020 and expecting our 2021 Classic 30RBQ in mid-March. Upgraded my F-150 to a Chevy 2500 HD Crew Duramax and expecting that in March as well. Hopefully the planets will align and everything hits the ground at the same time.

As my wife says, this is a “nice opportunity for us to start dating....again.” If we can survive backing this trailer up, we should be okay.

A special shout out to the Airstream Community as a whole. We are thrilled with the passion and knowledge that each member has been sharing. Major props to the many Instagram posts (airstream_nuts_and_bolts), Facebook Communities, Airstream Wiki, Airforums, and the many YouTube vloggers including some of our favorites - LOLOHO, KYD, Wanderlocal, and you can’t forget Patrick Botticelli with Colonial Airstream and his fantastic walkthrough videos.

Extremely excited for this Spring!

Greetings from Colorado: Welcome to the Airstream owners community and these Forums. I bet you and your date are going to love Airstream travel adventures. Hey, take a look at some of Moosetags' threads. They are expert Airstream travelers. I try to take trips similar to their methods. Much better than jumping on I-80 and dodging trucks.

Backing up is an easily acquired skill all of us have learned. I think a long trailer is easier to back up than a short one. Try backing up a 10' utility trailer. I find that to be more of a challenge than my long Airstream. Just take your new trailer to a big parking lot some Sunday morning and practice.

Our Airstreams are old, like us. Your new trailer will last 50 years or more. And the resale value is darn good.

David

Laptopt, congratulations and welcome to the Airstream Community and Forums. So, I’d say you took the advice others have shared and bought your second Airstream first - 30’ Classic!

Fellow Land of Lincoln resident here, just south of the Wisconsin border. I see you’re on the opposite side of the state but in a great spot with plenty of nearby places to visit.

Good luck and enjoy your new rig.

Laptopt;
Welcome aboard, and welcome to "dating" again, lol! My husband and I just began dating this summer with the purchase of our 2018 22fb Sport - it's been a blast!

As dbj216 stated, moosetags is a very well seasoned AS traveler and has a wealth of information! Oh, and as dbj216 mentioned....don't just jump on I-80 and go! I am a well seasoned traveler from the state of Wyoming and know about every back road possible!

:0)
