Newbies attend a rally as soon as you can.

I'm a relatively new member, and if this is in the wrong place please move it to the appropriate place.
I'd like to encourage new and/or veteran AS owners who have yet to attend a rally to find and attend one in their area or elsewhere as soon as they can. I just returned from the Pendleton Rally put on by the Oregon Unit 090, and the information and advice I received there was worth lots more than the cost of the rally. The "old timers" were patient and more than willing to help a newbie like me, and much to my relief there were several others in our situation(new) as well. Besides, everyone can always learn something new.
We were made to feel welcome and it was great fun to see so many AS lined up in a row in a little park near the rodeo action, but away from the noise and confusion too.
Even if you're not ordinarily "joiners," join a group, or just sign up for a rally to see if you'll like it. I'll venture to say you will. We enjoyed our experience tremendously, and have already made plans to attend next year. The hospitality was unmatched, the food good and plentiful, the planned activities just right, and the camaraderie priceless. If you don't care for an activity, you aren't obligated to go. It was wonderful and I can hardly wait to attend another soon.

We second that!!

Absolutely. We just attended our first rally WITHOUT our trailer! We found our trailer in July and it needs so much just to get out on the road. A fellow-airstreamer invited us to a rally as a day guest to meet a few people in the airstream community and to get ideas for our upcoming renovations.

It was hands down one of the best days I've had all year! We were welcomed and treated just like old friends. The camaraderie is amazing, it's like being at a family gathering with your favorite family members.

Fun stories, trailer tips/hints/advice/answers, travel information and more are all waiting to be shared, you just have to go. And the open house trailer tours are great. Don't forget to bring your camera.

And did anyone mention the food? Yum... I'm collecting Dutch Oven recipes and I don't have that yet either!

Sign up, you will be glad you did!

It's posts like this that get me even more excited about eventually finding mine. I sure hope I find her before the snow begins.

BTW Steve, you live near my favorite place on this planet, the Oregon coast. Pacific city is where I spent much of my youth. The Oregon coast will be our first out of county trip when we get our A/S.

Can a prospect visit one of these events without a specific invitation? I don't know anyone that owns an AS.

Forums rally

If it is a forums rally ALL are invited. WBCCI rallies are by invitation, unless you are a member. But there seem to be a lot of units that are very friendly and often offer invitations to buddy rallies etc.
We have been to a lot of forum rallies here in OH. They are lots of fun and you meet nice people!

I live right on the Oregon coast and have for 35 years. Anyone is welcome at most of the forum rally's.... AS or not, although staying nearby is recommended, because the breakfast chats are great, and it gives folks time to become acquainted. Some of the rally's are for vintage trailers only, and I'm not sure what the protocol is there. Look at the rally forums, choose one or several and then contact the contact persons and they'll hook you up with what you need to attend. Good luck in your quest to find the right AS for your needs, and now you know someone with an Airstream, me.
