Just bought our first A S!! 89 Excella 29'. Named her "Stella the Excella!" We love her....she tracked back from GA to VA like a champ! Have a few questions...We are getting ready to put down laminate flooring. Any tricks or time-saving tips? Any creative ideas for modern lighting? We are thinking about changing the upholstery as well. Should we simply cover the existing material? Or remove it. Thanks! This is an awesome sight!

Remove the old and if it is good enough shape you can use it for a pattern to make the new. Our 1978 Argosy Minuet had upholstery that was not badly worn, but the foam and fabric had an odor...old and musty, that we wanted to get rid of too. So we chose to reupholster and use new foam rubber. Good luck on your big jobs!

Congrats on Stella the Excella!

I can't advise on the laminate flooring, we have wall to wall vinyl we put in when we did a frame off... I would take off the old flooring if you can first... or check threads about floor peeling, etc.

Lots of folks have put in little led spot lights, not sure if they only did them during a full restoration. You might use the search function for the topic you are interested in.

If your old upholstery is in good shape and the foam is good, I would slip cover with something you can remove and launder or have dry cleaned. But, reupholstery is often a spendy item so if it goes to high...maybe think twice about slip covers. Your choice!

Let us know what you decide, and post some pics! We love to see project pictures!

My previous owner put laminate in our trailer, we love it! There is some disagreement among members here about laying it crossways or lengthwise. Mine is lengthwise with no problems, some have had the sections seperate and wish they had put it in crossways.
My PO also put in new upholstery. He said that they had planned on putting in new foam, but the upholstery guy talked him out of it - The stated reason was that the original foam was in great shape, and that it's hard to find foam of that quality anymore.
For what it's worth.
