Newbie in Ohio

We just purchased a 79 Safari International that appears to be in reasonably unmolested condition. We're new to trailering, but hoping to have it good to go for Oshkosh(EAA) this year. The only thing missing is the furnace. If any of you can give me any guidance as to the best resource or plan of attack about this I'd be grateful. We're very much looking forward to getting it going and to reading this fine web site. Thanx......Jeff

Jeff,

Welcome to yet another new member from Ohio. Hopefully someone with your model will let you know what model furnace they have in their unit so you can find the proper replacement. You may want to invest in a Service Manual for your year - best investment you can make IMHO. You can find them on Ebay or someone here will be able to give you the name/address for a lady in Jackson Center that has them also.

Good luck....

Ohio and Airstream . . . they just go together.

Native Ohioan here back in the state for my longest stay since the 1980s. I was born in '66, grew up and educated in Ohio through college then headed to the American West. Now I am a full time Airstreamer and back on the family farm for a few months.

Welcome to Airstreaming.

; )

While I am a native Ohioan, my trailer is not--it's a Californian. My project Airstream, the '68, is an Ohioan though. They seem to weather better out West . . . at least that's the case when comparing my two.

I did the Columbus B Rally, just because it fit my schedule. I was the youngest attendee by about 15 years! Also doing the International Rally. Will be a vendor there and an attendee. Will check the dates on the northern Ohio one. Thx.

N. OH rally

This will be a forums rally and is not a WBCCI rally. We meet informally and have a very laid back good time. We usually have a campfire to sit around and cook on together, and we plan at least one dinner as a potluck. We open our trailers for visits by all of us, and talk about our projects. One time we all packed into our van and did a local campground garage sale event.
There will be no vendors present. We are meeting at Findley State Park for the weekend. The last rally that we had was at Alum Creek, just north of Columbus, OH. I think that our oldest attendees were us! We are 58 &59. Our youngest were in their 30s, maybe. We still all had fun!
If you get our direction, please plan on joining us.
And if you get through OH at some other time, Larry and I have courtesy parking that you are welcome to use on the way.
