Newbie in CA

My wife and I just purchased a new (2011) Flying Cloud Bambi 19' today and we are thrilled! We pick it up in 3 days and can't wait to "break it in".

Couple of questions if you don't mind:

I've been looking for insurance and ran into some roadblocks....any advice on good sources?

Any suggestions on associations (Good Sam, WBCCI, etc)?

Looking forward to being online with this forum as it has helped considerably during the "buying an Airstream" phase. Can't wait for the "using an Airstream" phase.

Hi, welcome to the forum. Since in California, your tow vehicle carries the liablity on your trailer, we had our home and vehicle insurance company cover it all. We found insurance companies that had better coverage, but at more than four times the price.

Greetings from the Florida Panhandle

First off, welcome the Forums. We're glad to have you with us.

As to your questions, we had originally insured Lucy with a specialty company. We later found that it was considerably less expensive for the same coverage through Allstate. We have our vehicle insurance with them.

We are members of Good Sam and WBCCI. These Forums are the best source of Airstream information that there is.

Congratulations on your new baby. We need to see pictures of her.

Have many great Airstream adventures and safe travels.

Progressive Insurance is a good company for the AirStream. I have my boat and AS with them, they had the best coverage and price that I could find in our area in California.

Thanks all for the info! We pick our baby up in a couple of days....long wait. I have been to the WBCCI and the Good Sam sites and they look like a wealth of information. We are so looking forward to becoming part of the Airstream Nation. I'll attach a picture as soon as we pick her up. We feel like a couple of proud parents..and just a apprehensive about doing things right.

Congratulations! We're one year into Airstream ownership and loving it! in fact we just got back from a short weekend trip to a spot on the Monterey Bay. Being in central California, you've got a lot of great spots nearby that work for quick getaways - Morro Bay, Pismo, and more.

I ended up adding the trailer onto our AAA insurance policy, but Progressive is competitive as well.

Enjoy your new adventures!

Thanks all for your info.....I went with my current carrier. I am a veterinarian and I have a package coverage thru my association. They added the trailer at similar rates and coverage as compared to Progressive, Geico, and Explorer. The other companies would have required me to add my truck which would have broken up my package coverage...then everything would have been more expensive.

Anyway, thanks to all of you for your information and encouragement. We pick up our AS this morning.
