Newbee saying "Hi" from CA
After years (literally) of Airstream window shopping and wondering, reading (and wondering more), considering vintage vs current.... I will be picking up my 2007 Bambi 16' this weekend. Decided to go new over vintage for the security factor. So hard to tell with vintage models, however fab, whether I, ("not-handy-or-mechanically oriented") could manage well.
Would welcome any input, ideas, from the CA airstream community - like what do I do next? Eeks, the road is the limit and that means there are none. Feels incredibly wonderful. Where to go to test my baby out? Rallies? Good camping sights?
Thanks for your ideas, and for the promise of fun ahead...

Welcome to the forums.
Best of luck with the new Bambi.
Keep an eye out for a group of forums members in the Northern California area. They have several rallies every year and they are a great bunch of folks to hang out with. I am sure one of them will jump in with more information shortly.

Congratulations and welcome Lisa.
I purchased a 16' Bambi last August for much the same reasons you state. So far, after eight trips, the trailer has performed well and is easy to tow.
The NorCal forum group is quite active and worth getting involved with. The Casini Ranch Rally (Sonoma County) this past April was great fun.
Let me know if you have any questions about your trailer. Be sure to have the dealer check the shower for leaks (they are typically not caulked well) and provide thorough training on how the awning works. The awning arms are easy to bend, I know....

Lisa, welcome to the wonderful world of Airstream ownership and to this great forum communiity. There are several rallies right here in California throught out the year or if you are just wanting to get to know your new rig, try Laguna Seca Rec area or to experience boondocking (no utility hookups) Vetrans Park campground in Monterey could be a close to home choice. If you got questions feel free to ask through the forums or I'm close by if you need help. Happy streaming to you, Jeff

Hi Lisa, welcome!
As others have said, you'll have a great time.
There is a rally in October down here near Paso Robles at Lake San Antonio. It's a favorite spot and draws a number of members. Give it some thought, you'd be welcome.
Good luck,
Dave

You are a lcky one
Welcome Lisa, We're glad your here.
You will love the freedom and fun that Bambi will give you. You will also find that it will be easy tow and set up.
Here's why you are really lucky. We streamers in Ca. Rally like loons!
There's three groups and we all join in with each other. These groups are a loose knit cadre of folks who just love to go camping. No memberships, just friends old and new.
NorCal: They host Northern and Central Ca. rallies.
Ca. Streamers Southern and Central Rallies.
Silver Sisters. Anywhere at anytime.
Who throws the rally and when and where really depends on the weather. We all tend to camp where the weather suits our clothes.
You are invited to join in all of them! We all love meeting old friends for the first time.
If you have any questions about your new baby there are many here can help. Just ask. If you are brand new to this trailer thing you will have a lot of questions. None of them are silly. Not asking is the only silly thing. We're for you.
See you at a rally soon.

Lisa-----Welcome to the forums. A great place with tons on tech smarts and practical experience. For your first venture, consider it a checkout run. Your driveway or one of the local spots already suggested would be perfect. Then, you're ready for the open run. Enjoy and again, welcome.

Welcome to the Forums, Lisa. We're glad to have you with us. Congratulations on your new baby. What will you be towing her with? Post baby pictures as soon as you get her.
