new with a 64 tradewind

I am new to forums in general and Airstreams in particular. Sort of. I have had my 24 footer for almost 10 years and have done almost nothing with it. I had a 92 jeep suv that I thought would get me around. I was wrong. I now have a truck I think will pull and stop this thing. 1971 gmc long bed 1/2 ton with a 350 and overdrive transmission. I am building the truck this summer. Any suggestions to help the truck pull better would be helpful. I live on the gulf coast of TX. I am a photographer and I build cars, trucks and harleys in my Free time.
I don't really know much about the airstream. It will need a bit of restoration itself. I plan on relying on some of you for advice to make sure it is safe. I am not as worried about the look right now. It is a bit weathered and neglected. I would like to get it road worthy, so I can do some short trips with the family.

Is the 24 foot trailer easy to travel with? It still seems big to me.

thank you,

Welcome aboard. I would think the Chevy with a 350 would be adequate for a vintage 24 footer. Just make sure the rear is geared for towing and you may want to invest in a tranny cooler. Take a look in the restoration forums and you will find all kinds of information for your impending Airstream refurb. There are a lot of folks here on the forums from Texas so a helping hand probably isn't that far away.

You think 24' is long, try a quad cab 8' bed and a 34'er, now that's long. They are all pretty easy to travel with. Low center of gravity and shape contribute to their docile towing manners.

Post some pictures of you Airstream so we can all see what you've got
