Welcome aboard. I would think the Chevy with a 350 would be
adequate for a vintage 24 footer. Just make sure the rear is geared for towing and you may want to invest in a tranny cooler. Take a look in the restoration forums and you will find all kinds of information for your impending Airstream refurb. There are a lot of folks here on the forums from Texas so a helping hand probably isn't that far away.
You think 24' is long, try a quad cab 8' bed and a 34'er, now that's long.


They are all pretty easy to travel with. Low center of gravity and shape contribute to their docile towing manners.
