New to the Forums but not Airstreams

Hi All, I am a retired Baptist minister (from the active pastorate) and live in Middle Ga. I had & restored a 1957 Airstream Overlander. You can see the TT at Vintage Airstream E-Mail List Photo Gallery :: Jerry Jarrells 57 Overlander I sold it after I bought a 1965 Airstream Globetrotter that had been partially gutted. My work on it was interupted when I had a fourth back surgery and then they found cancer in the right kidney. Had it removed and am cancer free now. Only have Cat-Scan every six months. Anyway, I am back doing some work on the "65." Have replaced the stove, commode, freshwater tank and some plumbing. Start on the electrical. Hope to get some help from my bro-in-law with that so I don't torch the place. I look forward to reading and learning from all of you who have done what I plan to do. I look at the "57" Overlander every once in a while and kick myself in the seat of the pants for selling it. Going through all that "pain" again!! Oh well, I've got my wife Glenda helping me on this one and it is what we wanted in the begining (a smaller trailer).

Hi Jerry
Welcome back. Since you have already been "Aluminated" to the joys and sorrows of restoration the GT should be a walk in the park. And they are just so darn cute!
Having had a few back surgeries myself I will not lecture you on stove replacement (too Late) or future axle replacement. So be careful and good luck with your recovery.
Just curious about one thing one the 65'. Does it have the aluminum wiring and if so is that a problem? I have my eye on one myself after I heal from the last restoration.

Hi Gary, I think the wiring is copper. I put two light fixtures in and there was copper in those lines.

Hi All, I have become the owner of 10 light lens for the outside light on my 65 GT. I had to buy the lot to get a couple for myself. Therefore, if anyone needs one (I don't think they make them anymore) I would sell them for $2 + shipping. I can email a pic if you are unsure yours is a Dietz 2-84 / Lens #17-778 as mine. These #s are on top of the light.
