New South Texas Airstreamer

Just wanted to say hi. Found what I thought was a great deal on a 75 Ambassador so I bought it sight unseen from a guy in KS. Can't wait to go get it on the 22nd. It is now sitting at my father-in-laws and he thinks its in pretty good shape. He has already had someone offer him 5k and I only paid $1500 so I guess it was a fair deal. Love the site and all the helpful people. Will post pics of the rebuild. Trent ps: haven't figured out the whole pic upload yet or I would share a pic.

Welcome! You'll certainly find the information you might need to tackle any problem with fixing up the Ambassador on here. It's made life much easier for me as a relative novice to have read about every task I need to tackle beforehand, and learn from the experiences of other Airstream junkies.

Welcome! Where in KS did you find your AS? Im in Olathe just outside KC. As far as the pictures its pretty easy. On the computer go to quick reply and you will see a button for go advanced click it and you will see a paper clip on the top middle, click it and you can browse your computer for the pic to upload. If you have an IPhone you can just click attachments. We cant wait to see her.

Have a safe trip and if your in the area and need help, let me know.

Congrats on your purchase and may you have many hours of fun! One minor concern. Down here in Corpus, we consider San Antonio North Texas...

Thanks for all the helpful offers, I sure I will need them.

Blmitch5: it's in Wichita, not really looking forward to that drive. On a good note, I did but brand new tires on it so hopefully it will be a smooth trip.

Casa3805: it's still plenty warm up here in "North Texas". Do you know any reasonable priced parks that are fairly nice to keep my AS at monthly in Port A? Main reason for buying is so my wife and I could get back to enjoying water activities, preferably the lake, but until we get a boat again it will be the ocean. We have a four and 16 month old kid so boat will have to wait one more year. Thanks in advance for any suggestions you might have.

Greetings,

Our last trailer was a 1975 Ambassador with the center bath. We are on the N.E. side of town. Lots of streamers here in southern Texas.

Well there you go. I guess it's a mater of prospective, being in Brownsville, I consider CC north Texas. It's a nice place to cool off (yah right).

If SA is North Texas, then DFW is south Canada... and it was 103 in South Canada today.

re: Leaving the trailer in Port Aransas... maybe in the winter, but during hurricane season you might not have time to get to it to save it.

Sorry, since we live right here I have never really checked out prices. I do know there are a few very nice parks in Port A. But we were down there the other day and found a nice restaurant. Menu below. That may help a little.

Shiner, Fireman's 4, Full Moon and Guinness. All 4 critical food groups!

I wouldn't store directly on the coast. Much too harsh. I have used

Weber Creek/Saratoga Storage
7649 Weber Road, Corpus Christi, TX 78415-9702
(361) 851-1133 ‎

and can recommend them for covered storage with electric (run a dehumidifier). 24-hr gated access. Good manager (as of a few years ago). Modern, with money spent on expansion & upgrades.

This storage facility is easily approached from the Interstate and Spur 358 (Padre Island Drive), and, alternately, from US Hwy 77. (Map this). In a bad hurricane, Oso Creek will flood, but there is no place in this city that would better, IMO, as to quick in & out (which is why I used a facility that was on my preferred evacuation route; grab the trailer leaving town).

Any point on the Texas Coastal Bend is easily approached from this location to/from the facility. (Also away from "bad" parts of town, of which there are few).

And, South Texas almost doesn't include San Antonio, it is right on the edge of that region. One may be "in" San'tonio while on N. Loop 1604, but that is not South Texas. The Missions, however, are.

Hello and welcome to the forums! I see you've asked some questions about floor replacement. If you have some time, read my thread on replacing the rear half of the floor on our Ambassador. "Abby gets some Separation H" It may answer a few of your questions.
Good luck and hope to see you out on the road soon!
