Hello to All:

We just purchased a 2007 25’ Safari FB SE and spent our first night in the driveway and the second night oceanfront at the Silver Strand State Beach on Coronado Island. Oceanfront for $25 with our own bed and bath can’t be beat. Our Check out trip went well. The only problem we encountered was a water pump with a bad case of the rattles – our first warranty test. We were the only Airstream in a sea of 40 foot RVs and received some interesting comments including “Nice Rig” and “ I didn’t know they still made Airstreams.” We have a busy spring and summer planned exploring California and the North West. Looking forward to meeting other Airstream owners.

I read on another new members posting comments about a Hensley hitch and it being a great choice. I am not familiar with this brand and I went with the dealer recommended Equalizer brand. I am interested in learning more about the Hensley and any advantages it has over the Equalizer.

Welcome to the Forums. You will find a lot of good informayion here. We also have a 25' Safari FB. Our is a 2005, and we love it. We spent 80 nights in it last year, and towed it 10,000 miles. Try to make it to one of the Forums Rallies; you will learn a lot.

We tow with the Hensley Arrow. It really makes a difference in the towing experience. Hensleys are referred to as HAHA on the Forums. Check it out under the search fuction.

We also have an '07 25 FB LE LS STP DVD. Its a great size and floorplan. We've been out in ours for at least 30 nights and love it more each night.

There are a lot of great campgrounds in Ca. and great places to boondock.

Please try and join in on one of our many impromptu rallies. We'll be saving a place for you.

Congratulations Silverhawk25 and welcome to the forums! We are just south of you in La Mesa,Ca and have had our 2006 FB SE/LS for 4 months now and really love this trailer...if your parked at the beach the view from that dinette is tough to beat! We spend a lot of time at San Elijo St Beach in winter (we're supposed to be there now but had to cancel ) and the sites on the bluff that face the ocean are great so check that out too.

You made a great choice, this is one beautiful trailer! We use the equalizer and so far so good, farthest trip was Mammoth and all went well. Will put it to the test this summer as a fishing trip to Montana is in the works and we're hoping all will be smooth sailing there too, but have heard great things about the hensley.

Enjoy and happy camping, maybe we'll see you out there at a local campsite one of these days!

Congrats on the new trailer. We too have a 25FB and find it to be the perfect configuration for us and the two dogs. As to the hitch question, we also have an Equal-i-zer and wouldn't consider a trade for any other hitch even if someone gave us the Hensley for free. In 7 trips in 2006 all over the state, we never, never encountered sway or detectable motion due to wind, trucks, or buses on the road. It's hard to imagine a better performing hitch. Hard to beat zero, nada, nothing.

silver---normally noise from pump is because it's mounted to close to something like a wheel well or other item The pump is mounted on rubber and must have some room to move or shake when it runs. If not it will drum against anything and make noise. It's a simple job to move it one way or another. Usually a couple screws is all that mount it to the floor. no need to disconnect anything else. ------- As to the Hensley Hitch and no disrespect to any who dissagree but yes there is less than zero. If you have not towed with a Hensley you simply don't know what you're talking about. That is not to degrade an Equalizer or Reese or any other good hitch. Either may be more than adiquate for your needs but they do not compare to a Hensley. You're not comparing apple to apples. If you have any uneasyness , real or imagined, I suggest you take them up on their 60 day money back return policy. ---pieman

Just wanted to welcome you aboard to the wonderful world of Airstreaming :O).

As for the pump, you can also add a piece of carpet over the rubber and it will make a difference.

And we now await its delivery and dealer prep…
Then off to San Elijo State Beach or Anza-Borrego Desert State Park for maiden cruise!

Your Equal-i-zer brand WD Hitch should do just fine for your 25’ Safari…
Just about every 23’ Safari owner here that I polled has it… and likes it!

As you can see, as a 25FB owner, you are not alone. This fairly new model (2005 I think) is a big hit and seems to be about 3 out of 10 new purchases. Not taking anything away from all of the other great Airstreams, the 25FB is just the right fit for many new and experienced Streamers.

We use the Equalizer hitch and are very satisfied with the performance and the cost. Other hitches may be worse or better, some may be cheaper or more expensive, but you can't go wrong with the Equalizer set up.

As was suggested in an earlier post, if you can make the 29 Palms Rally it would be a great opportunity to tune up your knowledge and meet some fine folks. The people that show up at the forum rallys are of all types, a real mix of personalities, opinions, insights, singles, couples, married, kids, old kids, no kids, dogs, cats, and even an occasional cowboy. The list goes on and on with one thing in common....the Airstream. And there is nothing formal about these rallys...no membership and no secret handshake (I hope).

Congratulations on your new trailer! We also ordered the 25'FB and we live in San Diego. We don't expect ours until 2/1 but we're going to the NorCal rally next weekend to meet some of these friendly, helpful people. (And the burning desire to find out exactly what a Margarita Ball is???) Hope to see you out there someday soon.

Shake down runs are just that, settle the contents a bit, set up your rig to your liking and get a feel for it.
We did have a few rattles on our first two runs but that all seems a thing of the past.
We also opted for the same hitch, very few problems, easy to use.
