Smile New Owners! New Friends!

Hello every one! We are new owners of a 1961 26 ft. Airstream Overlander! We found it for a song at $1000 (and after the storm ANY trailer is hard to find,to live in or for recreation) although it needs some lovin'! It needs a good inside/out scrub and polish and some remodeling...or retromodeling,we wish to make it as close to original as possible while still keeping it comfortable and safe for a family of 5. We are at the upper Texas Coast near the Louisiana border(yea Hurricane Rita ripped us a new one). The trailer came without a fridge and stove, but fortunately/unfortunately we flipped our 21 ft. Prowler on the highway a few years back & salvaged and stored all we could, including the fridge, stove and other necessities.(We and the kids were all ok thank God) (and my SUV!). I feel I have found a wonderful resource here and hope I can ask many questions during the refurbishment. Ours will be mainly used for family camping and deer camp. We are a married family of 5 and are looking forward to loving using and enjoying our "Very Brady Airstream Vintage Trailer". Please feel free to mail me as well, I welcome all comments and questions.
Kristen B.

Welcome to the Forum.

Sounds like you are going to have a lot of fun with your new 61.

We too have a 61 - paid a bit more than yours and it is probably in worse shape! too

We will be starting work on her this Spring. For now though we are using our 69 Globe Trotter.

Post pics as soon as you can....

Let an Oklahoman welcome you to the Forum. I love this place. The people on here are always eager to give you help. Sometimes it is way over my head, but sometimes it does sink in and I can use the information to renovate my 78 Argosy. Have friends in Orange, TX, that came to stay after Rita. Hang in there and have fun with your "new" old Airstream.

None of them start off pretty! That's half the fun...watching the transformation ~

One of my biggest regrets (not in life, just in my trailer life) is not taking more "before" pictures...because once you get to work, it's never 'that way' again. It's a great way to document how far you've come and a wonderful way to give yourself 'a little pick me up' when the going gets tough ~
