New one on the block

Hello all, I am a new owner of a 1999 30' Airstream Excella and new as a member to this site. I was able to use my camper a couple of times before the end of the season, I know,I know, it's always camping season. Anyway I have performed repairs on several small things, mostly maintenance items that were not performed by the previous owner. Now I do have some questions about the battery charger, I have pulled the batteries out of the camper and have them on a battery tender for the winter but wonder if it is safe for me to have A/C power to the trailer while there are no batteries installed. I like to check on things from time to time and like to be able to have lights. The other question I have has to do with my couch that converts to a bed, there is a storage drawer beneath and the slide hardware has failed and ballbearings are everywhere. Can this hardware be fixed or do I need to consider replacing it. Please advise....

hi killr...........

Welcome to the Forums. The answer to your question depends on what type of converter you have. Some can be operated without a battery while others need that battery to act as a 'filter' (like the old UniVolts).

Let us know what you have and a reply will follow.

Hey kilrwatt... Just wanted to say congrats on getting an Airstream and offer our welcome to the forums, and I'll be interested to hear what others say in response to your questions...particularly regarding the battery.

Glad you could join us...look forward to hearing from you often...

Ease on down the road...

Hi Kilrwatt, I don't have answers. Just a big welcome to the forums. Maybe we'll see you on the road sometime.
