New members with a 71' Caravelle
A big welcome to Bill and Gail Zanger of Malibu, California. They just picked up their cute little 71' Caravelle. I will let Gail tell the story about the trailer.. I was only the inspector..
Congratulations!

Congratulations to Bill and Gail. Hopefully they will be joining the Airstream family here at the forums soon. They certainly have that new owner smile.

This little trailer sat in an airplane hanger for the last ten years and stored for 10 years prior to that.. and today drove over 400 miles.. you got to love that. Novato to Malibu and I understand trouble free.. Looking foward to hearing about their adventure.
A little shot of the perfect interior

A Guiding light for our journey home
Vinnie "Vlamica "was OMG fantastic. We took our gal now called Lil Bu from the hanger and the former owner had no idea what we needed to do. To the rescue came Vinnie, he was there in 5 minutes and he saved our day. They would have read about us the newspapers - if you are a newbie always find an inspector to help you out before you go on the road. We would have had blown out tires, a hitch not on the correct ball and the wheel under the tow would have fallen off on US 101. TG vinnie gave me his telephone number and he did not mind being called at 9 am on Sunday morning.
We drove straight home. She tows like nothing was behind us. We made 3 short stops to check our gal and at the two gas stations we already had admirers. Airstreaming is not just a classy way to camp it is a journey meeting the most wonderful people along the way. She is cute and we hope to get her on the road for camping in the next few weeks.
She is picture perfect as she came from the factory. I will update fabrics and otherwise keep her picture perfect self. A special thank you to Janet for having this forum and to all our wonderful and caring members.

From one to another!
Bill & Gail Congrats indeed! What a cute rig. My bride and I just purchased our 19' International three weeks ago! So, we can truly relate to your pride and excitement! We too hope to be out on the road in the next few weeks. We're currently in the midst of a home remodel........argh! We're almost neighbors........just over the hill in Thousand Oaks. I just retired after 40 years of teaching middle & high in nearby Calabasas!
Enjoy,
J&BJ

Generally speaking, if a torsion axle equipped trailer, is parked for an extended period of time, the axle rubber rods settle and/or solidify, rendering the axle no longer useful..
The following article will help the new owners check the axle out.
Dura Torque Axle
