New member yet to get an AS

Just joined because I am planning an Alaska trip next year hopefully with a Bambi. I'd like advise about doing the Alaska Highway pulling a Bambi. I don't have a pickup yet either and so advice on what kind of p/u is also helpful.I want to leave in May, 2021 so I have time to acquire both.I'm leaning toward a Bambi 19 rather than a 16. I'm doing this solo. Thanks in advance

We did that trip from South Florida last summer (2019), and the actual Alaska Highway wasn't too bad. There were some areas where you need to slow way down because of road repairs or frost heaves that need repairs. You shouldn't need a large pickup truck for a Bambi 19, but something that either gets good gas mileage or has an extra large gas/diesel tank could make it less stressful between fuel stops. Although we didn't have a problem with that with a 24 gallon tank getting 12 mpg, since we filled up when we could in the more remote areas if we were down to half a tank or so. Depending on where you want to go, a 4X4 or AWD vehicle might be nice to have.

Don't wait until right before the trip to get your AS and tow vehicle. In my opinion, you should break everything in, know how all the systems work, and have some experience before taking a trip like that.

We are new as well. We just purchased a 2018 22FB Bambi and our tow vehicle is a 2018 GMC Sierra 1500 with the full tow package, 8-speed, 5.4 ltr V8 engine. It is plenty powerful and capable for pulling our Bambi.

You will love Alaska - been there many times ourselves :0)
