Greetings, all!

After a 2 year search, daily searches, on Airstream Classifieds, Craigslists all over Texas, eBay- even CrankyApe, my wife and I finally found the used Airstream we wanted within range of where we live- and beat everyone else to it. The exchange has yet to occur, we take delivery in a couple of weeks but the for all intents and purposes the deal is done. Once it is in our possession I'll divulge details. I don't want to jinx anything at this point.

Patience has finally paid off and we're so excited we can hardy stand it.

I have a lot of newbie questions. Of course I will learn to use the search window before asking too many repeat questions.

I know I'll be needing parts from time to time and would like to get salvaged parts when possible. I know I already need a 30 amp exterior outlet. The plug works but flip cover on "ours" is broken and Airstream wants 70 bucks for a new replacement. I'm sure that's the first of many things that will need changing, so any guidance on where to find good used parts will be appreciated.

Glad to be here, folks. Thanks!

Nancy and Andy

Welcome & congrats on the purchase. First thing to know is the search window requires some type of advanced computer knowledge. (unless you enjoy 4000+ pages of info that has nothing to do with your search) Use the one it that has the google logo next to it. Much more usefull....
Depending on the year of your airstream parts are available through many sources....

Welcome….Nandy ( Nancy and Andy )

About the search function. A lot of us have learned that we have better luck/results when we use Google to search. Just include" Airstream Forum" along with the topic you are searching for.

Advice

#1 Go ahead….Driveway camp…We know you want to. AND it's a great way to get to know the trailer/motorhome, in the safety of your driveway.

#2 I would not buy salvaged tires. Trailer tires hardly wear out at all, but at four years, you are supposed to replace them. Since you don't know the history, get new bearings while you are at it.

#3 You are going to need a brake controller, and transmission cooler.

Sorry for giving answers to questions that you did't ask yet. Safety first, I say

Welcome and Congratulations! I agree with TRUXPIN. Searching some of the threads can be somewhat tedious. Everything that is posted here can be found on a google search....a bit faster and easier to sort through. No such thing as a dumb question. You may get a dumb answer... The forum classifieds are a great way to find the parts you need.
