New member, New Airstream, New life.

Hello all. This has been such a great site with a wealth of information. I joined a short time ago and read and researched as much as possible in preparation for an Airstream purchase. Last Friday I took delivery of a 1993 29' Excella. Thanks so much to Overlander63 for the walk thru, information, advice, and funny stories. I may not post to many questions, mainly because ever question I have had has been answered by a little searching, but hope to contribute, learn, and get involved. This is my first camper. I bought it along with my wonderful girlfriend. I have 6 year old boy/girl twins that already love it. We hope to take some trips this summer, go to some races perhaps, and make it work for us by changing some things around in it. ( first will most likely be full bed to twins in the back). My TV is a 07 Grand Cherokee with the Diesel. Not sure what else to include in an introduction but it is a start.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Welcome to the forums. I'm glad you made it home okay with your new "toy".
Changing the double to twins is kind of involved, but it opens up the center of the bedroom, so you aren't crabbing around the bed trying to move around.
Your trailer will tow better after you get the fresh water tank replaced and can tow with it full of water.

Eastern South Dakota is very pretty with hills, rivers, and trees.

I was surprised of how well it towed. Good to know it will be even better with the water tank. I did notice when in hooking Saturday that the chain brackets looked like they may have shifted some. Like a 1/4 inch or so. Other than that I had no other concerns. Brakes, lights, only sway was when I ran it up to 80 or so. I figure that isn't too bad with such a short wheel base.

I like NC too! Born and raised around Wilmington NC. Southport more specifically.

Lol. Poor choice of words. The gf option comes with the 12v hair dryer I believe. Lol. I have her on a payment plan. I pay in back rubs and she agrees to put up with me.

As far as pictures, I will get some soon. I bought it just from the pictures on the internet ( the Airstream not the Gf) and they are probably still on out of doors marts site. The gf's pictures from when she was a spokesperson and model a year or so back are out there but I wont divulge where they can be found.

Welcome TikiDaddy,

Glad to have you with us. Spent many hours up at Topsail beach and fishing off of Frying Pan Shoals.

Looking forward to your participation.

Kevin

Our first Airstream was a 29' '93 Excella. We loved it!
Until another Airstream friend talked us out of it. Really did not want to part w it, but we did. They love it too. It is a good size w lots of storage inside and out. We turned it into a full bed from twins then our friends turned it back into twins. So it can be does w/o too much trouble. Many happy trips were had in it.

Enjoy and safe travels!

If all you had to do was buy her the hair dryer, you got away cheap.
BTW, the funny stories are to help you remember to do or not do some things. Someday, I'll tell you about my holding tank malfunction...

Yeah the holding tank seems to be a place for some really bad/hilarious stories.

Tow Vehicle

Congratulations pn your new purchase. I used to live in Morehead City and did a lot of offshore fishing there. I bought a 26 RBT last October and told the sales rep that I planned to pull it with my wife’s 2012 Grand Cherokee. He said “NO YOU CANNOT. TOO SMALL” so I went and bought a Tahoe. I am curious about you experience pulling a 29 with your Jeep. I wonder if I needed the Tahoe. Thanks!

Just my two cents -- you know it will do eighty, but don't make a habit of it. Things happen fast at that speed, you now have a fifty foot plus articulated vehicle that doesn't do anything as well as your TV does alone.

Slow down, smell the roses!

Welcome to the club! Congrats on the purchase.

We have twins in our GT 25 and love the ease of navigating into and out of bed at night:-)

Projects fuel the fun:-)
