New member...Luv this forum

I finally........after weeks of searching was able to purchase a base camp..

That being said..it was brutal..

And I mean brutal..no negotiations..very few questions answered ..No return phone calls..nada nothing..

I looked at buying a larger unit ..but you will have to wait for a year..if not more.

I literally purchased a new basecamp as it came off the truck...secured funding ASAP..credit card deposit ..right now

If you do not have gold plated credit..they will go no further

I don't mean to sound so negative .Just the facts

However this forum was a lifesaver.

It was my only source of information and very much appreciated

Welcome.

If you want to discuss tires, that will bring a crowd. Enjoy your Basecamp. Did it come with tires... or did you force them to keep them attached to the trailer? Options, options and options. Check for a floor mat.

We have all been in the same position. Some members spend a lot of time under their trailers... like myself. Checking tires on the inside of the wheels and sometimes air pressure.

You will fit right in. Did they toss in an Airstream hat?

Welcome Aboard...👍

Unfortunate start...Hope the future goes better for you.

No orientation/walk thru, explaining the features and their operation?

It's not against the law to mention the perpetrator.

Welcome to the forum.

The Basecamp 20 was our first choice so…….a little envy heading your way.

We ended up with an International 25FB but almost immediately kicked it up 3 inches to get more clearance.

The Basecamp is a very nice trailer. Congrats.

Awesome trailer you’ll love it. Sounds like you have a sucky dealer. Tow on down the road and don’t look back

Ironic since they make them down the road from me.

I spoke with five dealers just trying to purchase an airstream...most were not very helpful sorry to say

I understand the covid/supply issues but some of the "marketing" was /is questionable

I told the dealers that wanted me to purchase other trailers...There is only one Airstream

I tried to purchase a Bambi..they were a year out..then tried a Basecamp 20 ..none to be found..the 16 X is actually a very nice rv..as I will be the primary user..I will change the tires to run flats..and work on the bedding ..

I will garage the 16 due to the fact ...were I live nothing is allowed outside the residence after 24 hours...

in addition there are serious residential break ins ..as individuals are coming in from the metroplex to outlying communities and damaging vehicles to secure anything of value ..most likely related to drug purchases..

Welcome to Airforums. You have come to the right place for all things for Airstreaming.

I have never heard of run flat trailer tires. If your tires are Goodyear Endurance, I would stick with them. We have 30k on ours and no problems.

What's the deal with tires? Did I miss that? Has there been an issue with tires on new Airstream deliveries?

Yes there are run flat tires for RV'S the larger RV's tires are expensive..

But for the 16 x I do not believe it will be an issue

Ive had two flats in the last six months..the last one was on a brand new car..almost $ 500 Dollars..cut sidewall..

Due to the high construction in around the state ..many of the non freeway roads are trashed..and do not ask about the thrown bags of trash/beer bottles./garbage...............and these are MAJOR road

These contractors can be fined..but they will do nothing .............

I trade new tires in receive credit..replace with run flats.........

As I anticipate going into " rough"areas" I will purchase a different tire..each to his/her own

Got it. Thanks.

You may consider adding an aftermarket TPMS system to your new Basecamp. I added this to my Airstream and I'm happy that I did.

I mentioned earlier about My dealer experiences..some dealers will advertise a stripped down version..

I learned to ask about tires/AC/Solar/Fridge..

Sad really..
