New member intro and request for pics

Hello, I just registered to this site..Name is Don Kellogg, Houston, Texas...
Anyway, I presently own two travel trailers..One is a 1974 SilverStreak 34',
which I use, but am considering selling..The other is a 1962 Bambi, which is
what the request for info is for. It needs a lot of restoration; physically sound, but not original inside. What I'd like to have is some pictures of the interior, as originally laid out..Generic is ok. A list of original equipment would also help me out. I may or may not use it when I'm done, but would like to make is as original as possible....Thanks, Don

Welcome to the forums. Try using the search bar on various more specific topics. There already may be information written on what you need.

Also try going to Vintage Airstream Home There you will find numerous resources for restoration as well as a great photo archive. Vintage Airstream Photo Archives

Thanks for the link...One thing I notice right away, the three little teardrop lights are only on the front of the one in the link, but mine has the lights on the front and the rear, and also has two additional tail lights..(look factory original)...My serial nr is 161T301, so I'm assuming it is Ohio made, correct?...Tks, Don

Hi Don, From the looks of your serial number you have a 1961 Ohio model. Look here.

From the serial nr info I got from this forum, it does appear to be a 1961, but I thought maybe it was 1961 production, and received a 1962 year model designation, because the title says 1962....Thanks, Don

I'd say Lee has it exactly right. The first two digits are the length and the third digit is the model year. Back out to the photo archives and select '62 Bambi -- the VIN example give 162 as the first three digits for that model year. You can probably figure the date range of production to be from June '60 thru May '61. 301 is the serial production number but it is not possible to say more. Sometimes the vintageairstream website has the range of starting & ending production numbers, but not in this case -- the pattern up and down the years was that the '61 Bambis probably didn't start at 001. I do see that the '61 Ohio Caravel had serial production numbers of approx 68 to 100, though it would take an Airstream historian to comment on how that relates to Bambi production numbers.
