My name is Tim and my family and I are first-time Airstream owners.
More than that, first time camper owners. We have rented campers before and decided get one of our own. Looked at a lot of plastic campers and was not overly impressed. My mind was working and I remembered my neighbors' Airstream from childhood. Based on those recollections and web research we changed our direction.
We found a '73 Trade Wind with which we both were very impressed. My Grand Cherokee has no troubles pulling it.
All upholstery was tastefully redone as was the flooring. The only thing I had to fix was the toilet valve. I found concise instructions for that on the Restoration Forum on this website. I hope to polish the trailer next summer as time permits.
My hope is that it will give my family many years of fun. Thanks for this web site.
Welcome to the forums! This is the place to learn and talk about all things Airstream! Congrats on your Tradewind, best wishes for many years of happy trails!
Your choice in aluminum appears to have been well cared for between birth and acquisition. The trick for owners to last as long in matching shape is frequent outings with family. Welcome to the community of aluminitus!
