New member from Oregon
Greetings. We haven't even picked up the '05 International 16 that we bought on E-Bay a couple days ago, but joined this group so we could learn something about trailer travel.
We're serious overland expedition people, and just purchased a roof-top tent for our Nissan a few months ago which greatly simplifies setting up camp. We still have (but use less) a '95 Defender 90, also for expedition use. We only camp in remote and primitive sites, haven't used a campground in 15 years, and don't plan on starting even with our new Airstream. I'm sure the sites will be a lot less remote and primitive, but we'll probably be testing the limits of the brand. Can you fit larger wheels and tires? Seems that would be a good upgrade.
I'll take some photos once we pick it up in Sonoma and head north along the Pacific Coast on our way back home.

Congrats on your new purchase. We had a 16' trailer and they are great for backwoods camping, but we did not do to much of that. The wheel well on AS trailers is pretty small so I do not think there is much chance of putting on bigger tires unless there is someway of lifting the trailer. I am the president of the Oregon Unit WBCCI and live just miles of you. If you are interested in joining our rallies let me know.

Welcome to the pack!
Regarding larger wheels and tires, there is limited space in the wheel wells, but I managed to replace the stock 15" rims and 15" trailer tires on my 19CCD with 16" alloys and BFG Commercial T/A 225-75/16 tires with no clearance problems. Got about an inch of extra clearance, but the commercial quality of the tires really adds to the piece of mind factor.

Mike, I'm so new I just had to do a search to find out what WBCCI is! Yes, I've certainly heard of WB, and we'd definitely be interested in joining in on a rally. Let me know how to find out more about it. I've admired Airstreams for decades but until pretty recently, never thought we'd own one.
We've got a lot to learn, that's for sure. Thanks for the welcomes.

Welcome! You live in a great state for camping. I love the Oregon Coast. It's the best coastal camping in the US.

Welcome to the group ! We have a pretty active group up here in the NW. I have taken my AS into the backwoods. I think you'll be fine with it.

Hi Ed and Meredith:
Welcome aboard! You have a kindred spirit on these forums named Ray Eklund, who lives in Colorado. For a spiritual convergence, use the "Search" feature above to locate his many postings about his favorite pasttime, "rockdocking".
