Hello My name is Damon. My dad and I are in the process of restoring his 1964 Bambi II. Neither one of us have ever had a trailer of any kind befoer he purchased the Bambi II. I figured we should post our build here to start and see if we're headed in the right direction with our plans.

We removed the interior down to the framing by gently removing the 8 million rivets.

So far my dad took the damaged passenger side wheel well to have remade and ordered new 5/8 plywood for the floor.

I've been cleaning out the 50 years of evaporated rodent pee off the skin... spent about 6 hours last weekend just cleaning the inside of the skin off. Hot water.. spic and span and a scrub brush. Doesn't seem to work the best either.

Next thing we need to research and get advice on a few things.

What insulation to use under floor? spray foam, bat or hard foam?

Reflextix.. or reflective insulaltion on walls?

We also need to research how to rewire and plumb it to updated. So I'll be looking for wiring and plumbing plans a diagrams understand it better.. Pex.. or copper type questions?

Thanks for the help.

I've learned quite a bit reading so far.

Cheers.

Damon

Hey Damon,
Your project sounds all to familiar. The Bambi 'll is a really nice trailer. I didn't place any insulation under the floor because of the rodent problems mentioned. We have spent a few nights with temperatures below freezing and a cold floor will be the least of your problems. Those walls get mighty chilly. Keep us posted on your progress and buy lots of 1/8 drill bits.
