Hello everyone! My name is Christine and I just purchased a 1976 31' Sovereign. I plan to refurbish her as she is already gutted but her shell is in great shape! I have named her Elenor Jane. I have some questions but I will post them in the appropriate sections. I am a Realtor and I also work retail but I also do lapidary work and silversmithing. I am so excited for this new adventure!

Sweet, you're right, she looks straight and sound. Great start.
Thanks for the pictures (and they posted great),

Christine, welcome to the forums and congrats on your 76. Ask the questions when needed and they’ll be answered. Good luck and stay safe.

Nice looking trailer. A rear bed 70's is a great find, most are rear bath. It looks like your axles are at the end of their life.

Hi Richard! About the axles .. are you saying that because of the age? or did you see something in the pics? This is all new to me and I want to learn all I can!

Thanks! Christine

Looking at an Airstream from the side, typically, if the axles have any life left in them, only a couple inches of the tire will be covered by the skin opening above the tires.....

When you see an Airstrem body sitting at or near the edge of the actual rims, likely it is time for new axles...unfortunately there is almost no way to service the existing axles, but new ones are available. Dont stress, yours are not as bad as many we see.

Hi Christine: We met earlier on these Forums. I've spent all winter in, out, under and over a 76 Sovereign. We hope to finish it up by the end of the month. It is a fun retirement hobby for me.

I might recommend the Forum's Knowledge Base trailer forums where you can read all about your trailer, and maybe start a project thread yourself. Click on Sovereign and then your year range. I have such a project thread where I posted pictures of many of the problems we addressed with this trailer. There are several other project threads there also.
