Hi Kaydee,
My wife and I just bought a 1971 Ambassador Airstream. Know nothing about it to date. We bought it 11/02/2008. Don't know how to use this site either. Hope to eventually confer with other owners such as yourself. I am going to make it as new eventually. Just cleaning it at present. Re-doing the A/C on top to start. Hopefully will be in touch. I still have to learn how to use this site so be patient with me.

Just purchased a 1971 Airstream. It weighs about the same as my 23' wilderness trailer give or take 50lbs. The registration for the 71 Airstream states 4,650 lbs.I own a 2007 Chevy Avalanche 5.3 litr. which weighs 5,400lbs. Only intend to tow short distance to Bluegrass Festivals. When towing the 23' wilderness trlr I don't even know it is back there it tows so easily. I use rigid load levelers and sway control. What is your take on this for towing the Airstream? I am told it should tow easier. Here is hopeing I can find any replies as I try to navigate this site. No plain ol question and answer site for this ol timer?

Welcome to the Airforums! Glad you could join in. There is a LOT of information here. Click on "Forum Listings" in the left hand column...there you will find forums and subforums organized by general topics...that's a good place to start. You can also click on the "Search" tab in the top blue bar and search by key words. And of course, if you can't find what you are looking for, just ask...there are many here who will help answer your questions and who are willing to assist...it's a great group and eager to help, as we were all "newbies" at one point or another.
Good luck and see you down the road!

Fiddler,
Welcome to the forum! Bring that trailer to KY and experience Bluegrass in the Bluegrass. Checkout the Dogwoods and Bluegrass Rally in the Spring, hope you can make it. Best of luck with your new purchase.

Welcom Fiddler: I bought my 73 overlander about 13 months ago. This forum has been nothing but help, knowledge and encouragement. Bluegrass festivals sound fun. Now that you have an airstream let the good times roll.

Hi Fiddler,
IMHO the 71 is indubatably the finest Airstream ever to hit the road. I used to live upstate until my wife got tired of 9 months of winter and 3 months of blackflies and announced she is moving to NM and asked I was coming or staying.
