Previously owned Avion, and streamline. Now have 1989 airstream 5th wheel with slide, and what I believe is a 1958,or 1959 overlander built at the California Norwalk location. It is serial # 6824. Can anyone confirm the year by that serial#.

If the serial number is from the stamped VIN number (usually on the plate next to the door, I think), the rest of the stamped number is a shorthand for lots of information about the trailer: model, manufacturing location, year, etc.

What is the whole stamped VIN number?

Hmmm... Just wondering ... Is the #6824 in big red numbers on the front and back of the trailer? If so, that is the previous owners WBCCI (Wally Byam Caravan Club International — aka the Airstream Club ) membership number, not the serial number....the VIN number will have more numbers and some letters in it. The VIN number is most likely stamped into the tongue, and/or possibly on a plate somewhere on the outside of the rig.

The number is from the plate affixed next to the door. There are no other numbers. It also the number which appears on the registration. Called airstream, they could not provide the year. Will check for other numbers on the torque.
