I just bought a 66 GT, and can't wait to fix that frame! Yeah you guessed it, it has a frame problem in the shower area. It will work out I'm sure. If I can't fix it it can't BE fixed! I was so glad to find this site!
There are a few great threads on frame restoration. Around here, they use the term "full monty" for serious frame-off restorations. Check the search feature -- it's very worthwhile.

Welcome to the forums and congratulations on your new Airstream. I will be looking forward to your progress notes on your restoration. The Globetrotter is a beautiful AS and one you can be proud of. I recently saw a completed frame off restoration at a vintage rally that truly was an inspiration to all of us who believe in saving these treasures.

Thanks man!
Its going to be fun getting my GT in top shape!
And I'm hoping not to have to do a frame off restore. What's happened is the pumper gave way on the passenger side. And is now being held up with a heavy duty nylon strap. I don't think its a major problem, yet. It will be my first repair, for sure. I look forward to camping trips this summer with my sweet wife Tina and 20 month old son BJ.
I HEAR YOU ELJAY!!! Ignorance is bliss they say! Thanks for your input, but I'm sure it will work out, why think otherwise when anything can be changed adapted or out right fixed. ________________ TinCanMan61
