A friend of mine also has a globetrotter (1962) and his has the part shown in the picture attached. Does anyone know if this is what I need or where I could get one? Thanks.
That part has not been available for over 40 years.
The simple fix is to replace the brass slide valve that's on the tank, with a slide valve thats been around for decades.
Then you can easily find all the attachments for it.
Thetford is the brand that gives first class performance and that Airstream has used for many years.
Communicating with a company that handles those parts, will make your task become much easier.
