Hello all,

I've been looking for a travel trailer (first) and it did not take long to realize that an Airstream is the only way to go.
So I have been looking for an older small to midsize to restore & use. I really have not been looking that hard as I currently have a boat resto. project that is taking all my time and $$$$.
Today, I'm driving down the road and see an old one sitting in a yard. I knew it was a Wee Wind from the street. I stopped cause there was a guy out in the yard and he said it is a 1948 and he would sell it for 2k. It needs a total resto and there is nothing inside. So I'm thinking about it and suspect he will take less. Any thoughts on this project out there??

Cheers,
Baron

Welcome to the forums! Sounds like it might be a neat project for the right guy. I would love to see some pics of that

Hi Baron, Welcome! I would sure have a tough time passing up an opportunity to own a '48 Wee Wind. Do you have any pics to share? Good luck with your decision ~

Buy it immediately! I keep passing by one in Las Vegas that the owner won't take $13,000 for, but it has most of the original interior.

You won't want to travel much in such an old pipe-frame model, but what a great toy to fix up and take to rallies.

If you don't want it, let me know and I'll come down from Colorado and get it in March.

Thanks for the responses! I will get some pictures and post them. I think I will persue this but it's not really what I want. I really wanted something a little bigger and modern ammenities (that being AC as I live in Florida). If I get it I may offer it up for trade.
Cheers,
Baron

P.S. Aluminitis. yea, i think so

Very nice buy, Baron. The Winds blow in your favor, and congratulations on finding a great little Wee one. Having a sib named Ruby, I'm curious: what is its serial number on the plate next to the door? Thanks,

Uh oh

Sorry, You got gyped and clipped. You should call the cops that was a robbery. But I hate to see a guy ripped off like that so I'll take it off your hands.

That is going to be a show stopper when you are finished. Congradulations on a very sweet rig.

Baby Wee Winds in the Wild

Baron:

Your finding an adult Wee Wind roaming in the woods got my jucies flowing and inspired me to look around here for some trailers. I can't believe my luck! My Wee Wind, Ruby, must have been having a good time while I was away recently, because I just spotted -- hush now -- three newborn Wee Winds quietly nesting in the shrubs along my alleyway, within earshot of their mother. I snuck up on them and snapped this photo before they scampered away on their tiny wheels -- so cute!

The plate is gone. The title has a number but I am at work now so I will look at it tomorrow.

I am sure I will have a LOT of questions soon. I just got it home and had to go to work. So I will start cleaning it up and see what I got. Thanks again for all the responses.
Cheers,
Baron

LOL

When I brought it home, a neighbor came over and said it looked like a space alien. So I sent my wife (who is out of town) an e-mail with a picture and the caption was "The Alien's are Coming". HA HA. I'm sure I will be getting a phone call REAL soon.

I should probably be posting this in the Wee Wind section but there does not seem to be much action there. Some Questions I have:
Does anyone have an idea how many Wee Winds were made/ still on the road today?
I don't have any of the "Airstream" badges, is there a source for the correct ones?
My front & back windows appear to be plexiglass or lexan. Is this correct?
Do I have to name my Wee Wind ?
