New member, 1967 Overlander remodel

Hi! My husband and I recently bought a 1967 Overlander, and are in the process of a complete remodel. My husband has an architectural woodworking business, so we have experience with custom, high-end woodwork and look forward to that side of the rebuild. I'm glad we have come across this site as a resource for the other things like plumbing, redoing the subfloor, etc. We do have an electrician for the project, which will be helpful.

I look forward to being able to reach out and interact with others that have been through this process and are as excited their airstream project as we are!

Welcome from Colorado: You found a very desirable vintage Airstream trailer. Some say the 66, 67, and 68 model years are very desirable trailers due to their unique windows and well built bodies and frames and interiors. Your electrician won't be real impressed with the aluminum 120 volt wiring in the trailer attached to copper outlets. But the aluminum wiring with proper corrosion prevention "grease" at the junctions isn't that big of a problem.

I might suggest you explore the Forums Knowledge Base found near the bottom of the Forums page. This section allows participants to focus on particular Airstream models instead of particular topics. Many folks start and run a "'project thread" where they describe their renovation from start to finish. You can click on Overlander and then your year range and learn a lot about your particular trailer. The 67 year had the better bath layout over the 66 year. The 69 year was the first year of the new body shape. Keep in mind every post you make is displayed in the New Posts so all Forum members have a chance to see it.

I had a 66 Trade Wind 24', one size smaller than your Overlander. I renovated it and then traded it for a 75 Overlander 27' just cause I wanted another project. Here are some photos of my 66 Trade Wind thinking you might be interested.

Welcome to the Forums, post some photos of your trailer, and maybe start a project thread. I think many folks would be interested.

David

Welcome to the Airforums and the fun of renovating a vintage Airstream. With your husband having architectural woodworking knowledge shows a lot of common sense which makes it easier to figure things out. Good luck, and as Conifer David mentioned, start a reno thread. Looking forward to following.
