New Kid on the Block
Hi,
I joined the community a couple of weeks ago. I was shopping the classifieds for an Airsteram but I got one last night on eBay. It's a 1976 31' International. I plan on picking it up next weekend. The reason for the moniker is the cupola style Caboose I'm restoring in my backyard. It's a bit rough to haul down the road and thus the Airstream. The reason for my delay in posting is ; while making windows for the caboose, I cut my left thumb off with my table saw. They've reattached my thumb and we're waiting to see whether it grows back.
I'll keep you posted next week after I pick-up my unit. I'm hoping that I didn't acquire the proverbial "Pig in a Poke".
Sincerely,
-jerry-
P.S. The unit needs tires. I plan on doing some phone shopping before I get there. Can someone tell me what size are recommended for my unit???

WELCOME! I was watching that Sovereign on Ebay ,best of luck with it. I have a 78 and really like it a lot. The layout, and the size work well for us.
You can search the forums and find lots of info to get your new to you rig ready.

Oh Man! Sorry about the thumb. And good luck with the healing. I was just posting on another thread how these types of accidents have such wide ranging effects in our lives. (This person fell from his A/S trailer) I hope things are looking up for you.
Thanks for posting, come back often, and post some photos when you get it!
Dave

Ouch! Everytime I hear about a table saw and a finger, the table saw always wins. My brother in law lost a finger to a wood edger, not enough left to reattach. Are they useing leaches as part of your treatment?
You wanted to know about tires. My 75 Trade Wind has bias tires, 7.00 x 15 load range D. Many people suggest going to radial tires, I will have to make that choise in around a year.
Best of luck with the thumb and the trailer...

Well all I can add aside from welcome is that I'm glad you picked the name you did and not..."Stubby". Please keep the wound clean and fight off any infections with the aid of prompt medical attention. We hope to see photos of your new rig soon.

Yea! Good to hear of another Arizonian Airstreamer. I was not watching the Ebay ad, where do you need to go and get your new acquisition? Post some pictures when you can.
The trailer silly, not the thumb.

Hi, I alsp wish you the best in your injury healing. Tire size for your unit should be ST225/R15 I would suggest "D" raange tires for their extra load carriying ability and just a few dollars more. I personally like radials and would never go back to bia ply.
