New in Victoria, BC, Canada
We are just looking for a new-to-us trailer to put on a piece of recreational land we've leased for the summer. I was surprised that there are three ads for used (1960's era) Airstreams in the local Buy and Sell (but unfortunately they are all several hours travel away).
I've always been intrigued by Airstreams since I first saw a Wally Byam Caravan (what a sight!) come through the northern BC town (Dawson Creek, "Mile 0" on the Alaska Highway) we were living in in the late 70's to mid 80's. Always wanted to peek inside one - and your photo section has been very helpful for that.
I'm very impressed with the evident pride and affection the members have for their units, especially for the sort of vintage units that might be within our modest price range. I'd rather have older quality than newer run-of-the-mill.
Well, I've been looking at web sites and trying to become at least marginally literate about Airstreams so we can be a little informed if/when we travel to see these and make a decision if "needs a little work" isn't just an euphemism for "basket case". Our current RV and main transportaion is a '77 VW Westfalia Campmobile - a classic in it's own right, though I doubt it will be suitable to move any of the Airstreams on offer ( '64 Globetrotter; '6x? 24' Land Yacht; '68 Land Yacht).
