Sounds like you've got your hands full with the 61. Look around the Restoration, Repair and Parts threads for info on similar projects. There's some amazing work folks have to done to bring things back to almost new and better.

Ask questions, there's lot's of knowledge in the group! Folks are happy to share their experience.

Greetings from Colorado and welcome to the vintage Airstream hobby. Your 61 Bambi is a famous model and very desirable. They are small and cute like a beagle puppy. I too enjoy the vintage Airstream hobby and have renovated several of the old ladies. I prefer the longer trailers as they make traveling easier for us. Here is a photo of a Bambi (I think) at the vintage Airstream rally I attended last year. I get my Bambi, Bubble, and Caravel mixed up sometimes. I'm going again this year. Great fun.

Yep, you gotta start a build thread in the Knowledge Base found at the bottom of the Forums page. Click on Bambi, then your year range. You can read all about what others have done. Bubba L is a renovator extra class. Very helpful to me. I renovated a 66 Trade Wind 24', a 75 Overlander 27', a 76 Sovereign 31', and a 69 Globetrotter 21'. Nothing like a dirty, rotten, smelly old Airstream to work on.

Welcome, Kenny from Mississippi! Yes, keep us posted on your progress. I envy you on your find, but not the effort it will take it to restore it to its past glory. (My wife and I endured 30 year in a “This Old House” and she will NEVER let me look at an aluminum antique.) Good luck, and eventually, happy travels!
