Hi All, my name is Brian and I live in the foothills of northern CA. I have have done light restoration on a canned ham and a teardrop in recent years. I have been looking for a vintage Airstream for quite some time casually. I browsed around here occasionally checking the classifieds mainly. Easter morning I spotted a
1965 Caravel on craigslist. I guess a few others here had seen it and passed. For me it was a perfect match. Very straight, solid, original and close to home. I bought it on the spot as it was exactly what I was looking for and within my budget.
Monday AM I picked it up and went directly to Les Scwhab for new tires before pulling it home. For now I am going to give it a good scrub, re-place the fabrics and use it while restoring it. All systems checked are working. I bought 15 yards of vintage upholstery and dropped of the couch pads and curtains at a shop to have them rebuilt ($550 just for foam ouch). The trailer was dry inside and I bought it in the middle of a heavy rain storm so I felt good about that. I have spent the last three evnings reading the forums and archives here. Great resource of information. Thanks!
