New Caravel owner

Hi All, my name is Brian and I live in the foothills of northern CA. I have have done light restoration on a canned ham and a teardrop in recent years. I have been looking for a vintage Airstream for quite some time casually. I browsed around here occasionally checking the classifieds mainly. Easter morning I spotted a 1965 Caravel on craigslist. I guess a few others here had seen it and passed. For me it was a perfect match. Very straight, solid, original and close to home. I bought it on the spot as it was exactly what I was looking for and within my budget.
Monday AM I picked it up and went directly to Les Scwhab for new tires before pulling it home. For now I am going to give it a good scrub, re-place the fabrics and use it while restoring it. All systems checked are working. I bought 15 yards of vintage upholstery and dropped of the couch pads and curtains at a shop to have them rebuilt ($550 just for foam ouch). The trailer was dry inside and I bought it in the middle of a heavy rain storm so I felt good about that. I have spent the last three evnings reading the forums and archives here. Great resource of information. Thanks!

Hi Brian, Welcome to the forum!

Great looking little Caravel! Someone else on here was looking at that one. I must have missed the posts on why he passed on it. It looks like a nice project to me.

Is that what you're going to pull it with? Because that is way too cool!

Oh brian, that is the trailer we passed on. Let me know how it goes. It just wasn't the right time for us. We actually told him we would take it, and after thinking about the $$ involved we passed. Hope it works out for you. Make sure you get the title from him.

Keep us posted...
