New Airstream - Yahoo

We just signed a new contract for a 2023 Flying Cloud 23 FBT! It will several months before we take delivery, giving u time to sort out the nuances of owning an Airstream. We are looking for some advice or at least, help in pointing us towards the information on a number of topics including those listed below. Your hp would be welcome.

We are experienced car campers, boon dockers and own a Boler style trailer called the “Wagon”, total length including hitch - 13’. The Wagon was alright for short trips, but just too small for those 6 to 8 week cross country trips. We have also upgraded our tow vehicle to a new 2022 F-150 Platinum Power Boost Obviously, the Airstream will be a big, big change - looking forward to living in luxury.

- Weight distributing hitches
- Lithium Batteries and Solar systems
- Airstream organization ideas
- Required accessories
- Airstream communities
- Etc, Etc, Etc

Thank for your assistance

Fun, Fun Fun!!

Welcome to the Airstream owner's community and congratulations for taking the plunge in the deep end. Airstream travel trailers are very special and so are the owners.

You are on the right Forums to get all the knowledge you seek. Try searching on a particular topic and see what threads pop up.

I also might recommend you visit the Airstream Life Store and get the books called Airstreaming for Newbies and the Airstream Basic Maintenance. These are a good starting place for you.

Big Enough,
Congratulations on your purchase and soon-to-be adventures! We have a 23FQ FC and agree that it’s a perfect size. One thing that is limited is outside storage for grungy stuff, so I added a Harbor freight storage box atop the battery box (had to replace the protruding latch mechanism with a key lock) for stuff like extra cords and hoses, a hatchet, bike cable locks, a Weboost antenna, etc. All the stuff you only need occasionally and hate to have to rummage past in the one standard outside compartment. I also put a plywood platform above the propane tanks for storing those grubby wheel chocks. Somebody posted a thread showing their similar mod - I use tapered inserts under the tank cover braces to keep it from shifting en route. You’ll find the bumper compartment get wet inside - OK for leveling blocks and outdoor rugs, maybe some sewer hose fittings, but not much else.
Anyway, you’ll have a great time, fitting into almost any site, no trouble getting there, and not missing the hotel rooms AT ALL!
Happy travels!
