Talking New Airstream owner!!

I really lucked out today, I found a 1973 or '74 27' Overlander. The folks that had it gave it to us for free, it is a four hour drive away and we're picking it up tomorrow. It has a dryrot problem in the bathroom, but we are willing and able to restore it back to perfect condition. I have read a lot on this forum before I joined, it is extremely helpful and encouraging to see so many enthusists out there having a great time with their Airstreams!

Welcome from up the coast a ways! You're very lucky to get a free Airstream, I'm jealous! Please be sure to post pics of your restoration.

Welcome from a neighbor in Depoe Bay, Oregon. Keep us informed as you move thru the restro. Take a good look at the rolling stock before you hitch up and move it.

When is someone going to give me a free trailer? Congratulations on the new baby. You should be able to tell the year from the VIN. A 74 was the year Airstream put grey water tanks in the trailers. A 73 should have 1 dump valve while a 74 should have 2.

Nice to meet y'all

Yay, thanks! Glad to see active threaders out there! Howdy Depoe bay! You are not far away from me at all. I found the airstram while surfing though rvtrader.com. The folks were selling it for 500.00 and my husband called them to see if it was still available. The gentleman said that they were taking it off ad because of the floor having dry rot in the back. They were going to haul it to the dump and were sure no one wanted it. So, today we are taking "El Diesel Diablo", the big red farm truck down and towing her home. The seller said that it's electrical systems work and the tires were realitively new, but a stop at Les Shwab on the way wont hurt. Here are the ad pics, look quick, I belive that the site will be taking them down today! RV Trader: New & used motorhomes, buy/sell at RVTrader.com

If the pics are gone from the link on my last post, I have set my avatar to the first pic of the ad. isn't she a beaut? a little sad, but she'll be in ship shape soon enough! As I told my sister in Alaska, I can't wait to have her here so I can start tearing it apart (and put back together)

The picture's showed. Welcome to the forums. It looks alot like mine as far as the layout. Congrats on getting it for free! We traded an old for truck we gave $700.00 for to get ours. Cant wait to see it restored. It amazes me how beautiful people make these old trailers. Keep us posted!

Congrats on the new trailer, and for signing up to the forums after lurking for a while. Nice to have you here.
So close on the rescue of the trailer - to think that it was almost taken to the dump. I tried to view the photos on the ad, they are gone. It would be nice if you would post some when available.
